So explain to me again how this live TV game selection works
Tonight
Port v StKilda in Adelaide - no TV coverage
Dogs v WCE at Docklands - full (delayed) TV coverage
So if you are Dogs supporter you can go to the game.
If you are Saints supporter, no coverage.
I clearly remember when the previous TV rights deal was negotiated (I'm talking 5 or 6 or more years ago) we were assured that the above couldn't happen.
I understand that if there are two interstate games on at once, then one of the Melb teams will miss out on the live coverage, but where there is only one we were assured that it would be telecast.
That was part of the original TV rights agreement.
The new agreement has thrown all that out.
Foxtel can pick and choose which games they want based on perceived ratings.
The AFL no longer insist on demanding that the interstate game be telecast.
Presumably this is bacause Foxtel are prepared to pay more money to have this right.
So once again ordinary fans have been sold down the river, so Demetriou and his corrupt clowns can get more revenue and increase their grubby bonuses.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

I think the free to air and Foxtel alternate who has first picks as to what they show in 6 week blocks.....so given it's round 6, I assume at the start of the year Channel 10 chose the WCE/Doggies over us!
What has been the case now for many years is Channel 10's reluctance to broadcast an interstate game on Saturday night if there is one played at TD or the MCG....the reason, I assume, is cost.
They probably figure it's sometimes better to rate slightly lower and broadcast a game played in Melbourne and with lower costs have a better bottom line?
I agree though with your point that the AFL no longer can give a stuff about interstate games involving Melbourne clubs being broadcast on FTA TV. It is a crock.

Ever since the AFL started getting $700 million for the TV rights they couldn't care what games get shown. Since 9 got the rights last time the only Perth games shown on free to air are Friday night games and games involving Collingwood and Essendon.
If there is ever a choice between a Melbourne game and an interstate game the Melbourne game will be shown on free to air. Annoys the crap out of me but that's just the way it is.

yeah tonight i have the choice of going to the game, watching it on tv or watching it on fox at a mates.
if u were an eagles or bulldogs fan in S.A tonight you would be relegated to the radio.
why the hell they show the same game on fox and FTA in the SAME state its played in is beyond me.
coverage doesnt really cater for all afl supporters IMO

Need a favour from someone who has access to record the game tonight.
( I'm quite confident that we will win)
I've got an unbroken run of all winning games transfered onto DVD since rd 1 2006.
If anybody could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
