Andrew Dishonest
MCC members pay an annual fee that entitles them to go to MCG and sit in the seats in the MCC members reserve.
There is no requirement for MCC members to pre book for any individual match or obtain a match ticket.
They just walk up and enter.
Medallion Club members pay an annual fee that entitles them to go to Telstra Dome and sit in a designated seat in the Medallion Club members reserve.
There is no requirement for Medallion Club members to pre book for any individual match or obtain a match ticket.
They just walk up and enter.
Every St Kilda supporter has seen the host of empty seats on level 2 Medallion Club reserve during all ticket matches.
These seats are the best viewing in the stadium.
On Friday (Anzac Day) some seats on level 4 MCC reserve were left empty during an all ticket match.
These seats were amongst the worst viewing in the stadium.
Now we have Andrew Dishonest complaining that the MCC did not ticket all the seats in the MCC members reserve.

Andrew Dishonest has attended heaps of all ticketed matches at Telstra Dome and never once complained that the Medallion club seats were not ticketed.
Oh that's right! Andrew Dishonest would have to complain to Andrew Despicable.
When will the AFL replace him with a man of some integrity.

As an MCC Member I shall respond
MCC Members pay upwards of $500/year for the right to attend as many games at the MCG as they choose. At certain big games like ANZAC day, the Grand Final and the Boxing Day test a certain % of the enclosure is set aside for pre-booked reserved seating. Whilst it wouldnt worry me at all, I think that many members would see a total "ticketed" game as a lessening of value for their fees. Over the last few years we've had..
* Entrance fees imposed on "blockbuster" events such as Bledisloe Cup and Socceroos games, over and above our Membership fees.
* The moving of MCG tenants "home" games to Telstra Dome, where MCC Members have no reciprocal rights bar a slight discount on very expensive Access One seats
What Demetriou didnt say in that article was that he wants to "all-ticket" MCC Members for big games so that the public can use any unsold space in the enclosure. Again thats fine by me but I'm sure many Members would see it differently. Many of them think that their fees give them the right to arrange who's in their party on the day and arrive accoringly, not to mention having to shell out the fees associated with a reserved seat (for the Grand Final its $25)
Oh..and just on crowd figures. Once a seat in the Medallion Club is sold for a season, that seat is counted in the crowd figure for every match there, whethere theres a bum in it one the day or not.

The fees are high.
But at least for that fee I expect to have the right to walk into any game at the G and get a seat, though obviously for a big game like a Prelim/GF you need to get there early enough to secure one - but at least you can.
What I would be really pissed off is to find out that I couldn't get in to a game because my seat had been sold off to some "outsider".
Dimwit wants it both ways.
As you correctly suspect he wants to put pressure on the MCC to pre-sell so he can then get more paying customers in to big games.
But on the other hand he is quite happy that with our high membership fees we subsidise the upkeep costs of the stadium, revenue that would otherwise have to be collected by higher entrance fees or subsidised from other AFL revenue.
So the result is that there might be a few empty seats in the members at big games, usually crappy ones in the back row. But the lost revenue of sticking some paying supporters in those seats is small compared to our subsidies.
So piss off Dimwit - keep your grubby nose out of the members !
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Another issue not raised by Simpleton or the MCC was the number of MCC Visitor tickets sold.
The MCC Visitor ticket allocation sold out about a month before the game.
Basically, the MCC estimate how many Members (full and restricted) will turn up on the day, and then subtract that from the reserve's capacity (about 23,000), to work out how many visitor tickets to sell.
Clearly, the MCC overestimated the amount of walk up members on the day, and should've (with perfect hindsight!!!) sold more visitor tickets.
Stupid Simpleton probably doesn't understand that point, and probably doesn't understand that the MCC would love the reserve to be full for all Anzac Day matches just like the AFL, but through different means than just selling to the public!

I find the whole running of this competition so despicable that I choose to ignore it. From the tribunal consistently making inept decisions, to Adrian Anderson who never answers a question directly and who also refers to his staff making the decision and thus trying to absolve himself, to the rorts over Telstra Domes deals and Ian Collins feathering his own nest to Demetriou the over paid, self righteous, above the law hypocrite I just don't bother getting heated up anymore...I just shrug and walk away.
PS add to that the umpiring in general, to TV rights, to fixturing, to allowing/sending clubs broke, to bias towards interstate clubs, to the "expansion" to place like West Sydney etc etc.
Crowds and viewers may be up but despite the governing body, not because of it.
PS Demetriou at the Brownlow...the final straw...

Agree! what i want to know is...if a monkey is running this show, shouldn't he be paid peanuts? I say let the monkey go into the corporate jungle and stuff someone elses business up. We need someone running this thing that has a clue. 18 teams...pffft, yeah thats what the comp needs. Centrelink or connex could do a better job than that incompetent moron who's not fit to run a bingo night at the local RSL.

All the more reason for the arguement that the AFL (then VFL) should have taken over the runing of the MCG 30-40 years ago when the MCC was in trouble.
I always draw the analogy of renting a house. The MCC, as the landlord gives itself the right to come into the venue that you have paid the rent for and enjoy the entertainment that you provide. Not only that, they also have this bizzare set of circumstances where they can invite their guests to join them. The only way that this should work is that AFL members, Club members and those who pay at the gate should be the ONLY ones entitled to enter the stadium to watch the entertainment. If this means raising the rent to accomodate this, then so be it
Waverley was the greatest bargaining chip the AFL had. And they sold it. They only have themselves to blame for the predicament they are in with the MCC. The MCC are in a position where they can and will continue to screw the AFL !!

I'm with ya bloke.....i fork out 500 coin a year for the membership, let alone waiting 17 years on a list to be able to get the membership in the first place.saint66au wrote:As an MCC Member I shall respond
