Pick 5 Games.

Post: # 554566Post Otiman »

If you could all pick 5 games to own on DVD, to watch whenever you wanted, which would they be? Of course, it becomes pick 4 games other than the '66 grand final, but give it a go :D

#1 - '66 Grand Final
#2 - '97 Prelim vs Kangaroos
#3 - '04 win vs Brisbane @ TD
#4 - one of the late 80's/early 90's wins at Vic Park vs Collingwood, not sure which game it was.
#5 - one of plugger's 12+ goal hauls.

And if it were possible, our first ever win in VFL footy.

Mine are much the same as yours....

* The '66 grand final (which i already own a dvd copy of)
* The '97 prelimenary final against North at the g
* The '04 win that wasnt agains the Lions
* The '93 win over the pies at vic park, the game better known for nikcy winmar raising his jumper to the rascist magpie crowd, gilbert mcadam and nicky running rampant.
* and finally the 1989 game where plugger kicked his 10th on silvagni and we won the game in the final minute at Moorbabbin.

Honourable mentions ....

* The '92 prelim final against the pies (our first finals win for a while ...sorry cant quite remember the exact year.)
* Banger's 350th .. Marvelous game :D
* The win over sydney in the wet in '06 at the scg
* Another wet agem at the scg, but we lost in one of the 98 finals.

Great idea for a post Otiman. :D

The only problem with that Otiman, is that the game was a "Draw" when the siren (bell?) went.
It was only during the week that our protest about a point registered to Melb after the 3/4 time siren was corrected to give us a one point win.

So the celebrations might have been a bit quiet.
Then again after 48 straight losses, the celebrations for the Draw might have been pretty wild !!!!

Great game.
We had a big lead, then the Pies came back.
It wasn't a Prelim, just an Elim Final.
Unfortunately we lost to Footscary on a windy day the next week.

Yeah, sorry thats right i remember that now and everyone was brimming with confidence going into the next game against the dogs thinking they were easy beats and winmar went down in that game...... not good.

I would also have our draw in 91 against the pies at moorabbin when banger snapped and kicked a behind to level it in the last couple of minutes. Maybe have our 1 point loss that year against the dees onl bey because it was an extrmely well faught game.

1998 vs Swans - 100 point win (I can still remember Bruce McAveney saying "you can hardly believe this is happening")
2005 Qualifying final vs Adelaide
1989 vs Carlton
1993 vs Collingwood
2004 vs Brisbane

A couple of other good ones:
1992 vs Collingwood - we won by a point at the G (the Craig Devonport match)
1991 vs Adelaide at Moorabbin - Plugger kicked 12.

I came over to the Elim Final & decided not to come over for the Doggies game as I would come over for the Prelim Final & Grand Final.

my picks are different kindof games....maybe i have a weird sense of 'entertaining matches'

1. 2001 Rd22 Vs. Hawthorne (Barry Hall's goal 2 win)

2. 2003 Vs. Roos (G-Train's goal 2 win)

3. 2005 Rd22 Vs. Brisbane (Milne's 11 (still cant beleive it))

4. 2002 Vs. Sydney (a draw gives the whole stadium a ghostown atmosphere. saints deserved the win tho..)

5. one of the Brisbane games at TD in 03 n 04 (luke powers mark sec b4 siren, n Schwartas goal win, interesting to see the game build up and up from the start of the match.

man! im sure theres a bit more than that, cant think atm...
