When will people learn that turnovers actually mean the other team gets the ball.
But he can tackle.

Michael Rix - possibly his last game if he does nothing. One last go...

Shane Birss - must step up.

Not the worst changes.
While I dont have a problem with Birss as an inclusion, I think Jones is stiff, given that he has played well for us in the wet before. He would be quicker to chase the speedy PA forwards than Birss. And he has recent seniors form.

Rix has the tank to run with Lade, probably one of the few on our list who could. Kosi/Blake on Brogan will be interesting

if Rooey was in any doubt i'm sure they'd have G at least in the emergencies

cos the Allen/Gardiner forward line just doesn't quite do it for me.....
watch out for a late withdrawal of someone else.
if u mean to bring G into the squad, wouldn't that mean a big fine...?
by woody i presume plugger means allen
as g isnt in the emergencies so cant be braught in
i know all this, i'm just saying that if Roo was in any doubt, they wouldn't have Allen as his back-up, they would have Gehrig

and since G isn't in the team or emergencies, i'd say Roo must be right

I hope he is given the task on the "Rodent". A wet game will even up the speed factor and with Bakes on Rodan's back there will be less opportunity to get clearances for Port.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

If Roo is out

Rix FF

Huge man, big tank......

The team that won the NAB cup is very similar to this

You forgot "Can't play"

Seriously, they should play the kids - sick of B graders getting a run ahead of the kids who need experience in the big league.

McEvoy instead of Rix
Geary instead of Birss

I know Birss had a cracker in the reserves, but that is exactly where his level is at - RESERVES...

i think its a common opinion that McEvoy isn't ready for AFL level, and that if he did play, Lade and Brogan would smash him both physically and mentally

Rix is a far better option

He has a fair dinkum, red hot dip, that is where the love comes from. He can actually go and get the ball himself, and his tackling, and second efforts are better than most.

His greatest posession game is around 10-12, so he doesn't get that much of it, and turns it over regularly when he does get it.

birss is a 2's player, nothing more.

good to see baker back in....missed his toughness at the footy.

not that pleased with the selected side this week....
have a funny feeling im still not going to get to see us beat the power at aami.......but stranger things have happened.

all in the interests of "team balance". i can't see G getting a look in until we lose one, which could be as early as tomorrow

fair call.
i just seriously dont rate him bigcarl.....ive never seen him have a really great game and think he's rather sluggish under foot.
hopefully he steps up in the wet/dew on sat and pulls out a good one somehow.

birss can go forward and kick a goal, good inside player and is in VERY good form. No point having him on the list if he is a VFL standard player, which IMO he is not. Will be a GOP for us and gives us a midfielder who can kick goals and take a good mark.

not sure why you want gehrig in for an away match when he is in bad form and doesn't perform away from home. Plus it will be wet, thus going in shorter is a positive.

look, i'd find a spot for gehrig as well. he's still too good a player not to have out there, whether it means riewoldt plays further up the ground or kosi rucks or a bit of both.

imo it will take only one loss for the selectors to re-think it.

having G in takes their #1 or #2 defender was my reasoning.
plus i think he would have been fired up after spending a week watching from the stands and pulled out a biggy.

you would have seen more of birss than me (in the magoos perhaps) so hopefully he continues the form he is apparently in.
its just every time ive seen him in the seniors he aint really done much and i got frustrated with the reasoning of his inclusion.

thats why :D

I love him because he gets alot of inside ball and can finish up forward. Will not tear a game apart but will be a GOP who fits our situation very well. Lets just say if he gets a shot at goal I will feel more comfortable then if jones was.

With it being wet we could see blake and rix taking a lot of the rucking duties with kosi taking the forward rucking duties that allow blake/rix to run with lade down back. Thus we have the three forwards in roo, kosi and gardiner with a bunch of smalls around them. In the wet I like the balance of this team. On the other hand I could see us stretching richmond the week after by including gehrig in there. horses for courses so to speak

Agree with G back for the Tigers game. Their defence is inexperienced and under-sized. He traditionally monsters them.

If Gardy is fit, play Roo up the ground...on Richo who also has a licence to roam these days

Opinions are like arse holes, everyone has one. At the very least you dont want yours to be common!

He wasnt picked, which means that RL agrees with you. Take a risk I say!

GTrains stats in the wet agaisnt PA last year???

Player K HB D M G B T HO FF FA DT SC

Gehrig 5 2 7 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 20 17

Having 3 talls has mainly not worked in the dry.

In the wet against a quick PA why would you want a 3 talls?????

Particularly when Gtrains record in such games is not to flash.

Birss is hard at it...and fora mid knows how to kicka goal.

Would seem to bea pretty sensible selection to me.

Does anyone else suspect that they may boost Banger's TOG a little for this game if it is wet???

Last chance for Rix, don't get me wrong nice guy but he is not up to AFL standard, hell if he plays a blinder i will eat humble pie!
i would really have liked to have seen McEvoy in considering it will be wet the boy has a good tank and last time port played in the rain it was against Brisbane and all Matthews did was allow the hamburger to run around all day and use his mobility against Ports ruck duo! And we all know who won that game!
Jones was stiff, yeah his disposal isnt good but his attack on the ball and forward pressure is something that we need desperately!

and ive already explained why i wouldnt pick birss.....although i hope he proves me wrong and steps up so i can see him play a really good game.

I agree with Buckets, Jones has a lot of passion, runs hard, tackles well and ferociously. Last match, it seemed like he handpassed at every possible opportunity - I wonder if that was a coaching instruction.
Anyway, Jones' pace is something that really helps us.

TO be honest I am slightly amused by the amount of emphasis being placed on our inclusions.
Rix and Birss only have to be serviceable to be worthy of their selection.
On the other hand IF NDS kicks two goals, gets 25+ possessions, 10 hardballs and 5 tackles, we will win. Simple.
