Post: # 553709Post sax »

With all t he rumours about who's available and who's unavailable, I thought I'd have a crack at the side this week. I'm a bit excited coz I actually get to see us live being an SA boy.
Anyway, I'd love to see what everyone else thinks!

F: Milne, Gehrig, Jones
1R: Koschitzke, Dal Santo, Ball

Not a bad effort sax...

I think you'll be right with Gehrig and Baker but i'm not sure about Rix.

I don't think they'll drop Blake.....

The question mark is now with Roo's fitness and whether he is injured
or if we are getting fed newshounds fodder......

This time Thursday we'll know for sure....

The list changes for 2025 have begun, always an interesting time for an avid supporter.

pretty close although agree with Blake. I would prefer they drop him but with King out there no way the will drop him. Would love to see McEvoy come in not Rix as I reckon Rix is hopeless.

In G, Baker
Out King, Gilbert

Prety much right I'd say. Shame about Gilbert.

Possibility that Gehrig won't come n and Roo and Charlie G. will play the key fwds, bring in Baker and Allen or Baker and Birss for the extra midfielder.

Nee!

VFL

Sax that would be the ideal scenario imo. However I doubt they will drop Blake. Leigh Fisher or Clinton Jones would probably have to make way, which isn't ideal at all considering the inclusions.

The changes will be
Highly Likely:
In: Gehrig, Baker
Out: King, Gilbert

Possibly:
In: Rix
Out: Blake

There is only room for one of Blake or Rix and personally Id feel safer with Rix as he would be able to go back and mind Lade when he goes forward.

Will be interesting to see the teams tonight.

Thats what I think too.

Id love McEvoy to get a run at some stage during the season, but not against Lade and Brogan at AAMI.

I reckon against PA rucks, Rix would be a certainty for body size alone, also Baker should come in too. This would be a good game to have Gram on a wing and NDS deep in the forward line. Can't see a place for Gehrig at the moment as we need a mobile team against PA.

Agree spert about leaving Gehrig at home, his travel record is very average. Also I noticed last week in the last quarter when the Eagles had a run on they exposed Port for pace in their forward 50. Admittedly they had the game in the bag, but the mobility of McKinlay showed their lack of speed in defence. AAMI is a big ground and lumbering forwards are not suited. Rix should get a game, but only because of the side we are playing.

The only reason G will get a game is if Nick is injured as some say......and then God help us!

If it is wet I think we would be best with this line up

B: L.Fisher, Hudghton, Goddard
HB: Gram, Maguire, S.Fisher
C: Harvey, Hayes, Montagna
HF: Ball, C.Gardiner, X.Clarke
F: Milne, Riewoldt, Armitage

Foll: Koschitzke, Dal Santo, Baker
Int: Allen, Blake, Birss, Geary

OUT: King, Gilbert, Jones, Dempster
IN: Allen, Geary, Birss, Baker

Allen has showed in a couple of NAB Cup games that he is a good wet weather player and he could play at either end.
Geary has good attack on the footy and keeps his feet
Birss also has great attack on the footy and the man. Can also kick a goal or two

Dempster doesn't have great ground level skills and in the wet, most players don't need to be tagged
Jones loses his feet to easily and over runs the ball. Won't be running players down because they won't be running with the footy

Charlie to be a lead-up option all day at half forward
Armo to harrass opposition defenders and force turnovers
Milne to crumb off Roo deep forward
Xavier to use his great wet weather skills to deliver into the forward line

Kosi and Blake to play as followers all day. Would run the Port ruckmen ragged. Hitouts not so important when players can't cleanly take possession of the ball.

Geez people are harsh on Blake. I thought he was one of the reasons we were able to stem the tide against Essendon last week. When he moved into the ruck he competed brilliantly against Hille and Laycock who were dominating. I'd rather him compete against Lade/Brogan then do some work around the ground, rather that Rix lose to those 2 and give us nothing around the ground.

with our customary 3rd qtr fade and their 4th qtr fade this should be an interesting game the team leading at the half will prob win the game !
