Alwyn Davey's holding the ball non-call

Post: # 551663Post hAyES »

Did anybody else see that? He was streaming through the middle, went to kick the ball and Armo laid a great tackle on him forcing him to kick the ground instead of the ball. The umpire was no more than 5-10m away and still didn't call it. It was honestly the definition of improper disposal and yet the umpire doesn't call it! In the end it ended up being very costly because they ended up kicking a goal from it and had all the momentum in the world. Honestly if the umpires can't see that, then what the hell can they see?

The blind mongrels made plenty of mistakes last night, especially maggot number 15 - he really stood out as a problem child.

Overall, they seemed equally bad for both sides, but considering we won comfortably they tend to get let off the hook a bit.....

Hit his foot.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Yep I don't remember that particular incident, but I thought we had a few simliar incidents with Armo, Milne and Dal which weren't paid so, hey, what goes around comes around - bottom line - umpies much closer than we are.

Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

Sorry to sidetrack this thread, but did anybody else think the umpires used different interpretations on 2 rules last night?

Holding the ball
Hands in the back/Chopping the arms.

It seemed to me that htye hardly paid any frees for both of those type of infractions compared to what we have seen in the first 4 rounds.

Maybe the players just miraculously got better at not offending over the week?

Strangest decision was when Goddard tackled McPhee, McPhee drops the ball and play on is called. Montagna gathers the ball, is tackled by Lloyd, Montagna drops the ball and is pinged. Identical scenarios within about 5 seconds of each other and they only call one of them.

I think the umps forgot the holding the ball rule existed for the majority of the game. Many times i thought it was there but it was called play on..ah well.. at least they were consistently blind..

Great effort by Armo, but I didn't think what he did constituted a tackle. He seemed to just get one hand on him.

Usually they pay those to the tackler even if the ball does brush the boot.

I feel like I'm channeling Plugger66 in this thread.

I couldn't see that one either. McPhee had the ball twice before Lloyd's free. He handballed both times although the first time he grabbed hold of Armitage's jumper to stop him from tackling. A few seconds later he had it again and handballed as soon as he was tackled by Sam Fisher.

The Lloyd free was there, as was the one payed against him a few minutes later.

Are you talking about Lovett. He didnt throw it. He kicked it about one inch but correct call because he did kick it.

Did Armitage have teh ball when McPhee grabbed his jumper? No he didn't - clear case of 'holding the man' against McPhee! :)

I for one am glad that the umpires swallowed their whistles at times, it's been overumpiring of games that has been their downfall this year. If they miss a few on our side, i'm not going to complain, there were probably a few that essendon supporters would be annoyed at too.

Yes absolutely, and I for one am very glad. Nothing more frustrating than the automatic ping when the ball is under a pack, it was getting totally ridiculous!!! Just each situation on its merists. Well done umps.
