Our Tackling

Post: # 551912Post rama35 »

Thought we tackled the best i have seen for a long time,Lenny Hayes has always been our best in this department, but i thought as a team we were fantastic.
You can see that we have a fair bit of improvement, our foot skills are still poor but im sure we can turn that around.
Special mention to Milney, his defensive side of his game has improved leaps and bounds this year.

Yeah, we really lifted a notch in regards to tackling last night; was great to see. We need to keep that intensity up all year!

Ball was terrific too.

X got a few good tackles in.

Bakes back next week should boost our tackling power.

I actually thought our tackling against Geelong was fantastic, but the umpires slaughtered us in the second quarter and we seemed to be lost as to what to do.

it's almost as if once linged for the second or third time the guys hold back from even attempting for fear of turning the ball over by a free.

I actually thought quite a few of our tackles against Geelong were 'broken' by their bigger/stronger bodies. The umpires didn't immediately reward teh tackler allowing the Geelong players time to 'break free'.

Against Essendon the tackles seemed to stick against their younger/weaker bodies and whilst we rarely got rewarded for the tackle it invariably created a stoppage.

Lenny, Gilbo, Armo, Bally & X are all very good tacklers. Lenny, Armo & Gilbo all come from a rugby background, which helps. Having some of these guys rotate through our forward line really helps with our forward pressure !!

While many forumites want to bash our coaches at present....tackling is one facet of the game that it would seem to me that they have improved on this season.

Yes we did/are using him.
I read that the day before the nab cup grand final and then when we played the next day i was really looking hard at our tackling.

I think this is the same bloke that has been creditited with the infamous 'chicken wing tackle'
