Rose Colored Glasses Thread...what could be

Post: # 551571Post saintsRrising »

Some have put a line through our name for the last Sat in Sept.

Not I yet.

I still think that we can make it.......but yes we need some things to go right...and for us to improve in.

They may not of course..... Some of these are below....

*Armo to continue to bloom and improve his fitness. Seems to now be capable of "arriving".

*Charlie to continue with his good form as a mini-Roo

*Kosi to lift a notch (I am not sure if he is still capble of the form he showed in in his min-Brownlow streak....and oppostion coaches now work ard to capatalise on his lumbering), but he is cpable of more than what he has been delivering over 4 quarters.

*Bally to geta bit more distance in his kicking anda touch more pace back. He is vastly inproved to last year...but we just need a bit more for him to resume being an A grade midfielder.

*BJ to continue to ramp up. In only two games he has looked good....but I am confident that in 6 weeks time that he will be playing truly great football.

*Gardi and King.....need them to get on the park regularly. Not necessarily every week...but at least one each week...and yes we want both in Sept.

*Dal ...he could be our best player. As is tagged every week I don't expect him to be awesome every week, but he does need to deliver more, more often. I am marking him harshly...but only because he is sucha good poential player. with more consiteancy he would be in the Top 10 in the AFL.

* Lenny..is just starting to motor. If the rest of the midfield group can lift he will deliver even more.

*Schneider. there is no pressure like scoreoard presure. Schneider may not be the best midfielder in the AFL, but he adds things to our midfield that we sorely need. Goals, pace and run..as well as "smart football".

* X-man.. Can be very good, but seems to make mistakes when he has to think about what he is doing. On the whole his 2008 has been promising...but needs to work at staying in the game more...and kicking golas when they are there.

*CJ.....I really like CJ's aggresion at the ball and his chase and run. Unfirtunately his kicking while improved will see him squeezed out (you cannot afford to miss sodas like the one againts the Dons. Lets hope he continues to improve...but at least this year he will remain a reliable handu back up to bring that you know will give you something.

*Baker.. has been out fora while. wil the umpires "haunt" him. We desperately need Bakes back playing well in the tea, His hardness, work attitude are sorely missed and Baker in peak form makes out team hum better.

*Roo.. how much is his knee effecting him?? Anyway despite the critism of some Roo is still one of our best players. His goal kicking has faded slightly....but beter delivery from his team mates would help. In addition if his team mats can start slotting more oals themselves you will finf Roo will be freed up as the oppostion will then have to worry about more avenues to goal than just Roo.

*Gram.. is struggling at present. The NAB GF showed us gain how good he can be....but he has mainly been out of sorsts this year with poor kicking anda lack of zip. How much is injury...and how much is a form slump I do not know. Time I think to try him ina new role to see if he can get his mojo back. As a team we certainly need his pace, run, lonh kicking and goal kicking power.

*Workate. Lets call a spade a spade. In too many quarters our workrate has not been good enough Needs to be higher for longer. We need more 1%ers..and players running in support to pressure and provide opportunities.

*Confidence...is a funny thing. But lack it and all ofa sudden kicks and handballs start to stray....and players focus starts to wander. RL needs to inspire it in the players.

*gameplan...just needs tinkering and better application. I would like to see the 2 tall forward structure reamain, and a lesser use of tags. Confidence to do the right thing seems to be lacking. He who hesitates is lost..and inecision is often hurting us at present.

Good work just some other things we need from a few players

armo - needs the fitness but also the muscle reminds me of Hayes in 99 doin the hard stuff but not quite got the body for it to be brilliant 2 years and a harder body and he will be brilliant.

charlie - just to take the pressure off and a few marks not a huge amount needed from him anything else is a bonus imo

bally - I think a lot has to do with his confidence in his body more than anything else, his longer kicking last night is a good sign thou

goddard - lock it in getting better and better

kosi - hopefully wont be too long until we see him dominating again we see signs but no fruit yet.

gram - get some confidence back man

dal - a bit different for me, i thinks he needs the players around him to support him a bit more (blocking sheparding) which enable him to do a hell of a lot more.

rest of the team - staying fit and playing for one anther, last night was a good sign but not there yet.

If we get those things happening we are a chance.

I am hoping that we can start to build some momentum now.

PAa bogey team remainsa hurdle for us.

However hopefully we regain Gardi, Schneider and Bakes over the next two weeks...so that heading to the pies game we can have near a full strength...if not full strength which can then go on and gain momentum.
