Armitage and Charlie

Post: # 551446Post saint patrick »

Both were exceptional last night.Armo providing vauable support for the mid field rotation and Charlie giving the forward line a much more mobile and a less predictable look.

Can't understand why its taken so long for Armitage to break into the side given his form in the NAB cup.Looks to be a natural competitor and doesn't shirk the issue physically.Certainly adds a bit of grunt in close and opens it up for his team mates.

Heard Harves say after the game on the seven words to the effect that he will be very good.

A big wrap from someone who knows whats required... 8-)

i think they were the best inclusions we could have asked for when we were to play the dons. Armitage kicking a few goals was excellent too. Very handy. He looked like he had matured and definitely a lot fitter than when he first came to the game.

Any ideas what happened to charlie's head? he was taped up!

David Armitage exemplified what we need to improve, the shepards, blocks, tackles and head over the ball attack on the pill are exactly what we need around the ground. The team can only lift when your least experienced player on the ground is working that hard for his team mates. Well done Armo, more than just a good game of footy IMO, set an example and proved yourself a leader. May be a future captain of our club?

Maybe this year?

Not to mention being able to actually kick goals on the run.

Just a cut above his right eye from what i saw. Was cleaned up on the field by a trainer with his opponent screaming to the umpire for him to be sent off.

I believe that the club has handled armo VERY VERY well.

Was totally unft last year and only got games because of our injury problems. Was struggling to be VFL standard fitness wise, let alone AFL standard.

Was given a few wake up calls, one over summer and one during the preseason practice matches. Over summer he has improved his tank, lost weight and is now fit enough to make it to enough contests to use his assests. But IMO the wake up call after a VFL practice match has really woken him up. This coupled with the mentoring under the workhorse that is Luke ball has lead to him having the mental discipline to do the hard work and basics very well.

Needs to follow it up next week, but very very very happy with his form.

I thought charlie gives us that HF option along with gilbert that we need. Needs to keep presenting, especially on the fat side so that when we change direction out of HB there is an option.

Armo = Future captain...
There really is a lot of Hodge in him, he would have definitely flown the flag for Xavier last week, it is good to see some real grunt back in the team...
I would expect him to play every game this season unless injury strikes.
Same with Charlie G, great game, plays the link up man as good as Roo and leaves Roo close to home, exactly what we have been lacking recently...
Baker back next week, hopefully Schneider and Gardiner too, it will be hard to choose who has to go, King would be one you'd expect, I would also have C.Jones with him and maybe L.Fisher, even though he's been good...
We are in a very good situation right now...

I was massively impressed with Armo......let's not forget this was only his 4th game of AFL footy, top effort!

His major weakness is his inability to kick a long ball, but he has great skills and will be a top inside player like Bally.

At last Bally may have a onfield twin to help him out, which may free him up and then we a get a double benefit - a fitter and less bruised Bally perhaps???

Nathan Burke and Tony Shaw were both average kickers of the ball length wise, but had great careers.....fingers crossed for Armo.....
