Foward line structure

Post: # 551394Post plugger66 »

Did our tall forwards perform better last night that with in the side. Well our 2 talls probably didnt play any better. Rooy has been consistant all year and was good again last night. Kosi has been average all year and was again last night. What did happen though is we had an extra running player in the forward line and that was gardiner. Now I am far from sold on him as I dont think the Cats would get rid of player who they think will make it at another top side but he was good last night.

What also happened by only have 2 talls is it allowed more defensive pressure from the forwards. A bit of this had to do with us not retreating to the backline as soon as Essendon got it so we must continue to do that.

I still think there is a spot for G but it would need Kosi to Ruck and on last nights form Im not sure we want that. The other option is Kosi plays as a tall ruck rover but would we be robbing ourselves of a good forward. It is only one game but what we may have found out last night is 3 talls, well our 3 talls, probably cannot work the way footy is played at the moment.

Hate to say it but it may have been easier if G had retired.

it seemed to function a hell of a lot better with riewoldt NOT at chf.

for once we had a decent spread of goal-kickers and our mids weren't always as fixated with delivering it to roo.

we didn't seem to fall down across half back nearly as much as we usually do.

I think that was because our mids were closer to goal because they werent running straight back to defence as soon as Essendon got it.

that was because they had the option of going over his head for goal rather than always trying to deliver it to him.

i suggested moving him to wing, but ff might serve the same purpose and lessen our complete reliance on him as an avenue to the forward line.

it's the change to structure that we must have

Roo needs to keep having a crack at the goals.....it worrys me when he chips it off to a teammate cause he doesn't back himself.

We need him to keep taking shots.....working on his kicking and gaining confidence in himself.
