Speaking of 'unreasonable contact', there was a young player, or player returning from long term injury (can't remember the player or even the teams) a few weeks ago who was shown in slowmo on the Sunday FS as he went at an opponent with a raised elbow through a contest. He missed contact by about 2 inches and the panel had a bit of a laugh about it.

Would that not constitute attempted striking?
