Its Official Round 5 ins and outs
In: Armo, C Gardiner
Out: Fiora, Gehrig
Looks like the match committee made the hard call to drop Gehrig. Will be interesting to see how our forward line functions now with two key forwards, plus Charlie playing as a lead up player.

agreed, Gram's not a backman, in fact Gram is lucky to be in the side by his performances in the back of late IMO.rexy wrote:Still got Gram and Dempster in the wrong spots, other than that not bad selections IMO.
Play him on the wing or Forward flank

predictable that we only made 2 changes - that's RL's motto I think.
Anyway, good ins....time Armo stands up and shows us he's a top 10 draft pick rather than a mistake. I think he'll make it this year....not sure though quite yet or in the 2nd half of the season.
Anyway else think there will be a late change?
I wouldn't be surprised if one of Chips, Harvs or X was out due to injury.
just my thoughts...

We've made a habit of making late changes in recent games, so I wouldn't be too surprised.saintspremiers wrote: Anyway else think there will be a late change?

Not judging by the last 4 weeks, why continue to play L Fisher and now Dempster up around the ball when they are proven backmen and Gramm down back where he is being shown up for his lack of ability overhead by smart coaches who drag his man back to the last line.Saints Premiers 2008 wrote:its just naming the team...everything changes come opening bouncerexy wrote:Still got Gram and Dempster in the wrong spots, other than that not bad selections IMO.
Whilst Gram was allowed to play high on a HBF and often loose it was fine to have him in the back 6 but now he is a recognised running player and will continue to be exposed unless we move him.
Maybe this year?

I think Gehrig was set for retirement, i think his form shown last year showed that he wasn't the '04 Gehrig, and he wasn't the player required for the AFL.ralphysaints35 wrote:Good selections !
take this oppununity and make it count armo!
still no schneids, (think he will be back vs port week after )
same as gehrig after having a week off,
would think MG would be a week away
I think he got caught up in everything, decided to give it another jolt, and it's been shown he's no where near up to it anymore.
I may be wrong, but unless he seriously changes something theirs no way he makes the cut for any AFL team.

big deal...king should slaughter both hille and nocock in the center and if blake can break even well good...bigcarl wrote:guess that makes blake second ruck.
although whilst king is off we might see kosi ruck with charlie move to chf and leave roo all alone in the square...he could be in for a big night...too quick for mal...too good for ryder...and dustin fletcher would never enter a contest and would prefer to trip players...
"It's a work in progress," Lyon said.

i applaud blake as second ruck. he's been very effective there in the past in more successful teams than thisSaints Premiers 2008 wrote:big deal...king should slaughter both hille and nocock in the center and if blake can break even well good...bigcarl wrote:guess that makes blake second ruck.

Are you guys serious?
Fair dinkum - not to make him a scapegoat, but when you're not AFL standard, you're not AFL standard.
What Ross Lyon sees in him is beyond me. I totally agreed with Garry Lyon's assessement of Blake after his spoiling attempt on Hawkins:
"I've never seen a player purposely try to avoid a spoil - not a contest, a spoil - but I have now."
I'm not sure you can carry slow, crap footballers in a team that's shooting for a finals berth in this day and age.
He can't ruck at all. All he may be able to do, god help us, is tag Hille.
The other swaps? I don't mind them.

It would help if players kick better into the forward 50...Red wrote:Good to see Fraser out. He doesn't work hard enough for the side.
Far too many turn overs of late...
I would like to know just how many times we entered into our forward 50 compared to Geelong...
Our kicking has been woeful and that was found out against a good side last week.
