Are we the biggest whingers out there?
Geez we love to complain when things aren't going our way, don't we?
I think whatit comes down to is we just can't compete with the bug gys at the momentt. Sure, there's time to reddem ourselves and all that stuff but really this is the only problem we have - just a lack of discipline and desire.
IN 1997, we found that desire from no-where. Who's to say it can't happen again. But I digress.
Really as soon as something goes wrong for our great club, we blame everything but the team - the tribunal, the umpires, AFL fixturing, the coach, certain aspects of the gameplan. Anyway, I haven't go time to count any more, but we're all guilty of this.
I bet opposition supporters are laughing their arses off about St.Kilda supporters crying about not getting things their way and so they should - I'd laugh if it was someone else, just like I do laugh when its Collingwood. it really is pretty pathetic.
And its really not such a big deal. Who cares if all this stuff is fair or not? Think about it.

I don't agree with this comment.OneEyedSainter77 wrote:Really as soon as something goes wrong for our great club, we blame everything but the team
The majority of posts I read on here get stuck into the players: particularly the usual scapegoats like Dal, Raph, Milne, Blake, increasingly G-Train, even Riewoldt. Even players who have long departed the club - Guerra, Ackland, Brooks, McGough, etc. - are brought into the frame.
In terms of why there is so much whinging on this forum, you must remember that we currently one of the best lists we have assembled in recent decades, and supporters have been frustrated since teh 2005 PF that we haven't been able to win a flag, or even make a GF, with that list.
You won't find so much whinging at a long of other clubs because they don't have the same legitimate expecdtations of success.

You listen to Sen and it may appear so but at the same time can understand peoples points.
I have many comments made to me from friends and workmates that we are the biggest whingers out there, not me but from Radio callers.
I need to be diplomatic and explain why people whinge and remind them of the decisions etc that "not the run of the mill" things have gone against us in the past, then they seem to understand or say Bakers a thug etc or your just loosers but whatever......
Of course it gets worse when we are not winning but thats life.

Saints fans whinge. No doubt.
But to be fair, we did cop it up the nipsy from the league for near on 100 years. We were known as the whipping boy for a reason. We were like the ugly step child for the VFL. We weren't exactly marketing material for the league, and they treated us accordingly.
There is absoulely, categorically no doubt that Demetriou stacked the cards against us in recent times too.
It's a fact he's vindictive, immature and a bully. And it's also a fact he despises GT.
The AFL are a business. It's not a 'competition' as we once knew it. It's not about suburb vs. suburb, state vs. state, player vs. player, club vs. club - it's about revenue. Making money.
How many times do we hear a response to criticism directed at the AFL pointing out the financial status of the game? TV rights are up! Crowds are up! I still fail to see how these figures relate in any way, shape or form to whether or not we have a fair, balanced sporting competition?
Based on that, there are some clubs - or more relevantly some areas of Australia, that mean more to the AFL than others. They will stack the cards in their favour for this reason. Sometimes blatantly, other times more subtely.
We have every right to whinge in most cases.
It's important to point out though, that it's not just Saints fans that whinge.

I'm assuming that this notion that we are the 'biggest whingers' has to do with the furore this week over West/Clarke?
If so, I would humbly suggest that this furore has very little to do with us but is being driven by peopl outside of us Saints.
The main people pushing this have been (in no particualr order):-
Gerard Healy
Mike Sheahan
Robert Walls
Mark Robinson
Patrick Smith
David Schwarz
Kevin Bartlett
Greg Denham.
Not one of them a saints supporter.

He's a St Kilda supporter, you hear it any time he talks about us when we are going well. Talk of the Swans and Dees doesn't quite give him the same twinkle in the eye.Mr Magic wrote:Was as a kid and still holds a 'soft spot' for us - but no more than for teh Demons and especially the Swans.Pwoit wrote:Gerard Healy is a Saints supporter - but thats beside the point.Mr Magic wrote:I'm assuming that this notion that we are the 'biggest whingers' has to do with the furore this week over West/Clarke?

It really is beside the point though because you have named a further 7 journalists with little or no love for the saints

Actually I do agree - you can sense his excitement/frustration when we are going well/badly.

No way we are the biggest whingers.
That's Collingwood 100%
They plan stuff, just so they can complain when it goes wrong.
Go to Dubai, get hammered by Adelaide, whinge about all the travelling they have done, even though Emirates are their sponsor.
In fact they are still whinging about that supposed goal that was called a behind by Rocca in one of their grand finals against Brisbane.
