Think we did well out of the 2000 draft.
Kerr at 18 would have been a good pick in hindsight but I think missing out on the big 4 (1. Riewoldt 2.Koschitzke 3.Didak 4. Livingston) would have sent the forum into meltdown.
We also missed out on Sav Rocca at 30 (could really have had some power forward depth with Gehrig, Rocca, Kosi, Roo etc.)

This is where we differ. I would have liked Graham Johncock at pick 67 instead we went for Mark Gale. And we missed out on Wayde Skipper when we went for Robert Powell. Finally we could have got not utilised before Daniel Wulf. What were we thinking.cowboy18 wrote:Think we did well out of the 2000 draft.

We also went for Brett Voss ahead of Nick Gill who is still playing. What is going on.

what about poor freo now theres a team that shoot themself in the foot every draft day !!!bobmurray wrote:McDougall and Livingston...
Terrible players at AFL level considering where they fell in the draft.....
Unbelievable that these 2 were rated so highly......
95 pick one - Clive Waterhouse ???!?!?! over looked Primus, Hall Jared Crouch, Simon Prestigiacomo ,Paul Licuria and Daniel Chick
trade peter bell only to retrade him back ditto on heath black
trade the number one pick in "super draft" for trent croad who didnt want to wear purple giving up a shot at judd ball hodge ?? only to trade Croad back to where he came from
then in the next "super draft" trade pick 13 and polak for pick 8 and trade pick 8 and medhurst for tarrant who doesnt want to wear purple and will prob be traded back to a vic club in the next year or so
and now they are the junk yard of unwanted bombers !!!!

FWIW Luke Livingston was a gun CHF for Kerang/Vic Country his value add was his abillity to not only crash the pack but also to run and chase the ball once it hit the deck (much like Matthew Kreuzer currently does at ground level), to follow it up he had impressive draft camp results and was rated as a top #5 selection on most recruiters pre-draft wish lists.
Sadly, he developed stress fractures in his back which prevented him from playing his natural game and holding him back - and addition to that his confidence was shattered early at Carlton, who through the loss of Silvagni, were threw him to the sharks at FB (a position completly foreign to him).
Luke Livingston was clearly one part unlucky and two parts mis-managed, but hindsight is a wonderfull thing, and most clubs would have picked him up at #4.
