fraser
have always loved the g train
but I think he just kicked a goal with his last kick in footy
wiould be stunned if he did not announce his immediate retirement
the game has passed him on and the saints need to work a new structure

Would be a little ridiculous to do that after the rollercoaster preseason he had.
Don't use Fraser as a scapegoat. He played an important part early, even if he eventually got benched. I just wish Lyon would let him play as a leading forward like we know he can. The game hasn't passed him - Ross Lyon's game has. And that is what is frustrating all of us.

Especially early. 50/50 balls should be left as that but the umps kept pulling Geelong frees from nowhere.

I wouldn't write him off......there may be some red faces around the place if too many people write him off......remember he is still our only reliable kick at goal.....that is pretty important.StSteven wrote:As I said before. Scarlet always beats Fraser, always....so blaming umpires is not facing reality.
We will get nowhere until we base our gameplan on reality. Fraser should not have been taken back.

With ya there mate. Frase needs to be freed up to be more attacking and damaging. We only look dangerous when the ball is in his hands. The rest of the time I am cringing and squirming waiting for forwards to kick. I know he is happy to play second fiddle but we need more onfield mentoring and power play from Frase.
If he hasn't got it in him then I think Frase will realise that he really shouldn't be out there. But for goodness sake Ross give him a role that lets him have a crack at 60+ this year. That's what he is there for!

Well - I finally have to say what I think - even though it sounds like I might be badgering one of our own.
Scarlett has given Gehrig an absolute bath since I care not to remember.
Those on this forum who say they may as well have given G-Train a rest against the Cats (an for me - here on after) are, I think, correct.
I also think that we tried to follow the Leigh Matthew's game plan when Thomas coached and we are now trying to follow the Paul Roos model when Lyon is coaching.
For me, I say, bugger it!
Set the game plan ourselves - do what we can do best with what we have available - do not try to imitate what has been successful - be gutsy and think how can our playera, with their talent and ability, and collectively on the ground - exploit and beat our opponents.
Anyhow - I have now vent my spleen.
Oooorooo!

the umps should be shot.....much cheaper to buy 3 bullets than worry about trials/inquiries etcstinger wrote:LENNY LEADS THE WAY wrote:AGREE the umpires where BLOODY DISGRACEFULWollongong_saint wrote:I hate being spiteful and pathetic but at times it felt like their whole team was playing with a different set of rules.

Number 21 didn't...he just refused to make a decision. That was worse than making wrong ones, just ask X (if he remembers).Wollongong_saint wrote:I hate being spiteful and pathetic but at times it felt like their whole team was playing with a different set of rules.

Poor Frase, towelled up yet again by another nemesis, I now know why he retired, does not appear to have any fire in the belly...should have gone ballistic today, after the X incident, instead served up some nice cold Gehrig mediocrity.terry smith rules wrote:did you watch the game scarlett was almost bogclarky449 wrote:Do you guys know anything, Fraser Gehrig did he job well today he kept mathew scarlett away from goal which was hes job. Listen dont use him as an escape goat Wollongong_saint im with you.
Unfortunately all the good backmen will be playing in the finals, Fraser needs to show us he can kick goals against the good defences. Would have even given RL kudos if he played him on Baby Huey Hawkins after half time and let Goose hit up on the lead and chase and tackle and pressure in our forward line.

What about the mark G took in the 3rd quarter that wasn't paid
And don't forget if Gehrig wasn't out there than Scarlett would have played on Kosi or Roo.

the whole point is that yes fraser takes a good defender but he got absolutely smashed by scarlett, there is no point I repeat no point in taking the best defende unless you can have an impact on that player
unfortunately fraser had no impact on scarlett or the game

It's sad though Enrico is that the upside or positive from G's performances is that he takes a good defender effectively reverting to him being a dummy forward...that is way too sad for a duel Coleman medallist who gave us so much.Enrico_Misso wrote:What about the mark G took in the 3rd quarter that wasn't paid

My worry is that some of the reasons that caused him to doubt or talk himelf into retirement are still there which in mind makes me think he's not playing 100% with his heart and mind, I'm yet to see the spark, the passion from him.
