John Favier: Firefighter
IT MIGHT be every little boy's dream, but to professional fireman John Favier, 47, living at the Eastern Hills fire station, in East Melbourne, two nights a week is all part of the job.
Favier, who works for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, spends two nights out of every eight at the station from 6pm to 8am, as well as working two 10-hour day shifts.
On a quiet night, he and a team of 17 firefighters will sleep cosily under their blankets after a game of table tennis, pool or a movie. The station has a fully equipped kitchen for whipping up shared meals and a gym to maintain the high level of fitness the job demands. On a busy night the team's head won't hit the pillow and clocking off is not an option until another team is available to relieve them.
"Because we live and work together you do form a strong bond," Favier says. "You get to know people better than you would in a more normal job."
At Eastern Hills, which is the biggest fire station in metropolitan Melbourne, firefighters share twin rooms where the beds are separated by a partition. "We keep our bedding in our lockers and just pull it out when we're on," Favier explains. "You get used to living and sleeping here for part of the week - it's a fantastic job."

In a winning team 33% of the time.

Not a bad pecentage for that era of Saints history.

Bit generous Grumps - almost 27% for his saints games, drops to 25% career wins if you include his two swans losses.

Would still make him one of out more successful players during the 83-86 dark ages.

Wonder why they never mentioned the "Favier factor" in the pre-match stats?

the fact is you jumped down my throat with your emoticon and made a d*** of yourself

you cant wait to be arbiter of what should go on or what shouldn't go on the forum, not taking a deep breath and considering that maybe you're not the font of knowledge you seem to think you are

show some respect for other posters is all i'm suggesting - you never know, they may know things you don't

Poster formerly known as SENsaintsational. More wisdom. More knowledge. Less name.
