If Brown gets Richo this week and keeps him to 2 goals or less, then I'd say he's a shoe in for the nomination. Otherwise Geary (StK), Palmer (Fre), Edwards (Carl - who was also good against us early), Stewart (PA), Rioli (Haw), Leuenberger (Bris) are all in the run for it next week.

If Geary had have kept up his first quarter form against the blues for the entire match, he would have had this weeks nomination no worries. Fortunately we started playing better as a team and Geary wasn't needed :D I'm quite happy for him to go under the radar as far as a rising star nomination goes. I'd have him ahead of Gilbert at present.

I dont know if he is eligible (can someone tell me)

but i would think cameron wood from the pies, if is eligible would have to have a nomination before about round 5 or 6.

Think we need to take the blinkers off a bit when talking Rising Star nominations. We tend to think that any eligible Saint whos had more than 10 touches and 3 marks is a shoe-in

Grab some tapes and have a look at the games of Brown, Hill, or Rhys Palmer over the last 2 weeks

Unfortunately leagues ahead of anything Geary or Gilbo have produced so far.

Nah I'm pretty sure he isn't eligible, he got the nom in rd 2 last year so he would have played more than 10 games by now...

Ryan Gamble and Travis Tuck also had very good games on the weekend. There's quite a number of good kids kicking around this year, so any nomination is going to be tough to get at this stage of the season.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Surely Masten will get a nom at some point during the season. Hasnt done alot so far for the Weagles but has shown glimpses of class.

Rhys Palmer is a bit good too, isn't he?!

I'm surprised Bryce Gibbs wasn't nominated this week. I thought that his two out of bounds on the full's, one of which while attempting a 15 metre pass after a mark, may have endeared him to the selectors.

*what a hack*

I reckon they should just award the Rising Star to Joel Selwood again, and rename it "The Joel Selwood Award".

Probably my favourite footballer outside of the Saints. Little maestro, so he is.

hes only played one game and against a rampaging crows outfit watch out for this kid hes the real deal ... as for Palmer its just a true indication on how bad freo lack class in their team when he has an average game by his standards and get close to BOG for his team !

Umm, Saint66au this thread is not about the hype of our young kids. i was just looking for some information and a fairly civil conversation without sensationalism on the young kids is hopefully what most posters will be able to execute.
