Anyone who flys to germany to get calfs blodd injected into them for the good of the team would have to demeand respect from everyone.
Was that around the time of Mad Cow Disease?saint edward wrote:Anyone who flys to germany to get calfs blodd injected into them for the good of the team would have to demeand respect from everyone.
Did it make it as far as Germany?
Could explain the current status of Max.
But seriously he goes alright.

but maybe given the interst I should have stuck to my recycling and picked up those left behind as I often do.

once everyone has bought their records the left overs get taken down underground, and stored away for a few days.strauchanie wrote:apart from at the ground, is there anywhere else you can purchase an AFL record?saintbrat wrote: it was an enlightening article
then about 100 of them get sent off to some stores where they sell them for $2. i cant tell you wehere these places are because all i know is they are out in the country...maybe places like daylesford etc....
and then the rest just get taken to the tip!

a couple of excerpts:
THE MULLET
"The mullet came about when i had a bet with 'Milney' a few years ago. Then we started playing in Launceston and the people there quite liked it. Mum hated it. She couldn't wait for me to get rid of it. I shaved it off for charity and then grew a half-mullet for a while. The hair hardly grows these days"
THE FORWARD LINE
"I don't have to be the big pea. I'm past that now. I see myself as the third key forward behind Rooey and Kosi. We've got four or five players who can kick 40 or 50 goals, which will keep the opposition guessing as to where the ball's going and they'll have to respect every player. That is the aim. We'll be blocking and creating space for each other to try to make it happen"
THE FUTURE
"This isn't necessarily my last year. It depends on the body and form. But after last year there definitely won't be any emotional farewells and ripping the jumper off."
INTIMIDATION
"The so called intimidation factor is something I've never really thought about. When I was playing at full-back on guys like (Tony) Lockett I didn't want to rough them up too much - I wanted to survive."
THE G-TRAIN
"I've no idea where the nickname came from. But it has stuck and I've gotten used to it and it's a bit of fun for the fans. 'The Carpet Snake' doesn't come out much now. That was more when I had the mullet. I don't really care what they call me."
A terrific interview with a real character who doesn't speak often. And Saintbrat, I can see why you didn't want to key it in ... there's absolutely pages of it.

I'm worried that the beard will make him even slower. Aerodynamics - that sort of stuff.
On the other hand it's good to see some real men out there. These days a lot of the players are I think what is called "metrosexuals". That is, they wax everything and rub creams into their skin.
Still, it takes all types.
