Best Defence In 2008

Post: # 538189Post Ghost Like »

In light of a lot being said about how ugly we played, we only kicked 6 goals and what a shite game plan Ross has us playing...blah, blah, blah...

Let's rejoice that statistically we have the most miserly defence in the AFL this year, no one else could have won defending 6 goals...well not last week anyway. Hopefully that defence does another job this week and our forwards enjoy some free space to go with quick, clean delivery.

Let's take some positives and ourselves not so seriously. It's a long season, we've won some money, we backed it up with 4 points, we still have anywhere from 3 or 6 of our best 22 to play, depending on if they put their hands up and force current players out. We should be 2 zip and gaining momentum.

Actually I wanted to start a post myself on how good our defence has
been - especially as so undermanned in the NAB Cup. Also a credit to the mid-field who are getting back in time to help out constructively. I think a lot of credit should be given to the defence coach - is it SOS?
Max's first up effort on Saturday night was sublime.

When the opposition get the ball, our whole team is the defence. I wouldn't call it undermanned.

Melbourne only scored 6.14, does that make Hawthorn the best defense?

IF both teams had kicked straight. (say swap points for goals) the score would be 15.6 to 13.6. Would the game still have been called ugly?
