Was X targeted?
Mrs GrumpyOne, who attended the match with me, took the view that her favourite player, the X-Man, was on several occasions crunched unfairly in tackles and behind the play with the objective of minimising his impact on the game.
I thought that he copped a few hard tackles, but more due to being in the thick of the action rather than any deliberate tactic by the Swans. I didn't see anything behind the play, as I tend to focus on the ball movement, but I doubt if she took any more than one eye off X all night, and would notice such stuff.
Does anyone else share her opinion?

I'm in in agreement with you GO - he was just in there - all the time
I too am an X fan and he was continualy spoiling in the centre - especially in the last qur
but not taking the ball- more bringing it to ground and thus having to get down to get it putting himself at the mercy of the man on man swans.
But he bounced back again and again,

Well they payed more attention to him than you would normally expect...
I wouldn't say there was anything unsportsmanlike (for our sport) in it....
Good to see Xavier is really coming along though, could be our most improved by years end

Not suprising he would be targeted. Is known to be injury-prone, and thus has a big target on his back when he takes the field. Also puts himself in situations to cop these sorts of hammerings. Gotta like the attitude, but not the results that sometime stem from him being in there. Needs more protection, as do most of our midfield.
