Yeah umpiring was pretty bad both ways, I would say that we got the better of it though, which we have quite a bit recently.

We had the better of it again last night. They love Rewoildt,if he played for another club we'd scream the way they look after him.
It's all way over due though after the 15-20 years of butchery from the men in white. They've been better to us since with all our recent glamour players, they owe us a lot more though after the torture through the 90's,god they used to rape us.

The very real problem is that they think umpiring is about paying free kicks - and they want to get into the game. It would be most interesting to put a mike on them when they return to the sheds after the game and see exactly what they talk about. I'll lay money it is "I pinged ........" and the next will respond "I pinged ......." and so on and so on. Their conversation will be about the free kicks they paid, and against whom.
Wrong mind set.
Another very real problem is Schnieder saying he did not hear the "play on" call - this with three umpires, one responsible for the observance of the mark and the umpire who should have had the "play on" responsibility. So who gave the call? And why didn't the player with the ball hear it? Were the umpires intimidated by Hall rushing in from plenty of distance away? Plenty of questions here, and that is indicative.
The umpires continue to umpire to "name" players - including by not recognising infringements against them because they think they are being paid too many free kicks.
Overall rating - Disgusting and contributed to the frustrating mess of a game it was.
And in taking a mark, after body jostling, exactly where was Kosi's action any different to the body actions of his opponent? So, if the Sydney player had prevailed in the contest for positioning, Kosi would have got the free kick?
With an umpires coach who is an AFL "golden child" and who, to boot, coached Richmond to bottom, moving straight to Umpire's Coach when sacked, what do you expect?
More jobs for the boys at the AFL.

In Riewoldt's defense the free kicks he gets are there, it's just he gets them every time unlike most players...jonesy wrote:We had the better of it again last night. They love Rewoildt,if he played for another club we'd scream the way they look after him.

The push in the back rule is so dam inconsistent, they make it up as they go along...

They do love Roo but they hate Kosi. The poor guy never gets a free when he's being scragged and if he makes any contact while going for a mark he is penalised every time.jonesy wrote:We had the better of it again last night. Only Round 1 and already you're laying it thick on the umpires. What the hell for? Thought they did a reasonable job of interpreting some tiggy touchwood decisions that happen in a split second and we all have the benefit of replays on the big screen or in slo mo on the box.
FFS, I was sitting in the first few rows of level 3 and I'm not close enough to judge for myself on some decisions that happen on the other side of the ground. All you bloody armchair experts have a go yourselves.
