Trouble getting in tonight?
I arrived at the ground at 6:30 tonight and went to the membership tents to collect our hats and scarves. Took one look at the queue and decided to give it a miss. The queue for collecting memberships was even longer so it would appear that the 'ticket delivery problem' is quite large.
I got into the queue at Gate 5 to get into the ground and I assume that all the gates had long queues?
It wasn't until I actually got to teh turnstile that I found out why there were such long queues -
ONLY HALF THE TURNSTILES WERE OPEN.
Once again Ian Collins has treated us fans with contempt.
I realize that we are only the tennant but the Club should inform Telstra Dome that it is just not good enough.

No, but typical of Ian Collins management style.matrixcutter wrote:thats not really good enough is it.
When he was CEO of Carlton in the 80'/90's he used to regularly do it at Princes Park. He figured he could save a few hundred dollars per game on wages for turnstile attendants - he didn't care if fans waited a long time to get in.
I was behind a family going into I think gate 5, and there were massive issued with their actual membership tickets (cards), A family of about 5, the Father was denied access and sent to the Membership tent to get something else (maybe a ticket or something) before they were aloud in, yet some of the family members' Cards scanned and were allowed in.
So if your understanding what i'm saying, I think there was 1 kid and the wife, whos cards had gained them ebtry on the inside, and then the father and 2 other kids being told to go to the membership tent to saught it out.
It held up the que for a little while, and of course there were some rude bastards swearing at the Dome Staff and other supporters, which it is not their fault.

But think how much quicker it would have been if 6 turnstiles were operating instead of 3 at Gate 5!iceman wrote:I was behind a family going into I think gate 5, and there were massive issued with their actual membership tickets (cards), A family of about 5, the Father was denied access and sent to the Membership tent to get something else (maybe a ticket or something) before they were aloud in, yet some of the family members' Cards scanned and were allowed in.

i got to the gate5 membership tent to collect my membership at 5pm, and the line was a good 8m long!
"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."
Got to the cap/scarf queue at about 5.40...only waited a minute or two in line. The queue at the membership collection tent however was almost the width of the concourse
Well done to the Club though for having the common sense to place what were always gonna be the 2 busiest areas out of a main traffic area....and equi-distant to those arriving at both ends of the ground
Didnt actually notice the lack of turnstiles..walked straight in at Gate 5..no queue at all. Cant see the logic in closing 1/2 the turnstiles...they are automated and dont require anyone actually manning them!!

Buying a membership should be a simple transaction. Not one that takes over three months to deliver and still forces some to stand in a queue to collect before the first game.
Win it for HIM!

I got my card in the mail weeks ago, paid in November. Would NOT scan in. Was told to go back to mambership tent at top of bridge.
They were most helpful and told me to go to gate 5, where the line was a mile long. So had to buy a ticket to get in to see the start. I would have been in that que at 1.4 time!
Not impreseed, not f****** good enough. Amateur hour!
The club needs to hire some damn professionals to get this s*** organised properly well before round 1!
Its past using volunteers etc.
And yes, I have paid! Already debited $80!

what an absolute joke......Iceman234 wrote: "Commercially packaged foods not allowed to be brought in"
so u can make sandwiches somewhere else and take them but u cant buy sandwiches somewhere else and take them in...
pity if u are disabled and dont have the ability to make sandwiches.
if the food was decent prices at the footy there wouldnt be a problem.
id be quite pissed off at this membership thing if i was a paying melbourne member, thats just crap really.
Its been in the terms and conditions in fine print next to the entrances since last year...I take it they were actually announcing it over the PA??
Commercially packaged? ...so they are worried about the branding on the bags not the fact that you bought it elsewhere???

I went before 5 to collect 3 of our 4 family tickets which had not arrived in the mail. Waited 20 mins while Kylie and the crew tried to find them - all to no avail, even though we've had the same for the last 6 years. Was issued with comparable seats which were fine.
Could not understand why the envelopes were not in alphabetical order.
Not sure what would've been worse - standing in the Q at the start of the game or being a vol in that tent!
Have been promised a phone call and tickets express posted on Tuesday. Hate to have to go through that again next Saturday.

I reckon using that "fulfillment house" might be an AFL directive, as a number of the Clubs use it.saintbrat wrote:maybe if enough of us Volunteer and Have the time to be trained we could replace the 'Fulfillment House' that the actually processing is outsourced toiwantmeseats wrote:IIts past using volunteers etc.

35,000 members all wanting trinkets and pens and lanyards and DVDs as well as the piece of plastic that gets them in...its beyond the scope of volunteers now

But Instead of Gate 5, I went back around to Gate 1. (My seats were in the social club so it would have been quicker anyway) There wasn't the faintest description of a line and that was at about 6:00 to 6:20...

Yep actual announcements over the PA. So my young bloke who didn't want a pie in the Victory Room got Chinese take-away at Southern Cross and took it in - but technically he shouldn't have.saint66au wrote:Its been in the terms and conditions in fine print next to the entrances since last year...I take it they were actually announcing it over the PA??

May have had something to do with Dad's glare at the poor TD staff when his printed off approved and paid for Ticketmaster ticket came up unauthorised, who then let him through and didn't check our bags.
I feel for the staff as it is not their fault.
OK while we're on a roll, how flowering pathetic are the staff and organisational skills of the peanuts that manage the Victory Room?
Got there looking for a pie after 6 pm - no pies - they're 20 minutes off - twenty minutes later they weren't there so we went the parma and pot deal.
Half time the can bar bloke couldn't get the flowering register open to serve us beers even though the first 27,000 blokes in line had the correct change and didn't give a toss if the register was open or not.
Anyway a manager came along, hit one button and voila....
Like last year when the tossers had about three cans of beer in the fridge at the start of half time and then decided to stack it after the half time break started.
Absolutely no fault of the club, purely TD's fault.
And today I had a cheeseburger purchased inside the ground at the WB/Crows game - I could have made tastier if I'd put a roll of slightly damp toilet paper inside a manila folder and added 5ml of sauce.
Okay, enough.
Phew.

Do you own a backpack? I haven't had my backpack checked for more than 2 years !!Iceman234 wrote:While we're canning Collo, is the announcement of "Commercially packaged foods not allowed to be brought in" a new one?
Technically I can't take a Subway Sub in - unless I re-package it in my own glad wrap?
What about a Mars Bar and a packet of Samboy chips? A bag of snakes?
FFS spare me.
Yes and I always make it available to be searched voluntarily.Eastern wrote:Do you own a backpack? I haven't had my backpack checked for more than 2 years !!Iceman234 wrote:While we're canning Collo, is the announcement of "Commercially packaged foods not allowed to be brought in" a new one?

But last night after hearing that announcement, putting the boy's wickedly evil fried rice and chicken at the bottom of the back pack, then getting jacked up (very briefly) cos his ticket wouldnt scan properly, I wasn't offering it up and I wasn't asked.
And we walked straight through unchecked.
I just can't believe that they would try to enforce that though.
