Well said Glenn Archer...Re Harvs
"Robert Harvey is in the best 3 players Ive ever seen - you dont bag champions like that...."
Archer went on to say that the guys 36 yrs old - ofcourse hes working his way into the season what else do you expect?
Seriously - ALL Thomas cr@ppola aside - the biggest dills going round right now are Dermutt and Grant. To make ANY assertions on the back of 1 game is fanciful, lazy, half @ssed comment/opinion call it what you want.
Interesting to hear Harvey was quite annoyed by the comments - so he oughta be as Lyon said "the guys got credits in the bank".

Robert Harvey is the consumate professional and aside from being an out and out champion/legend, he is a super fit athelete with a second to none training regime.
Craig Bradley played and was still conrtibuting at the age of 39 and if he can do it, then there is a lot to suggest that Harvey can too.
Robert Harvey is really one of a kind and you throw out the usual judgements about age etc..., accordingly as noone looks after themselves physically and aerobically like he does.
I personally think deep down that Harvey has at least another season beyond this one, but obviously at this stage of his career you take it one season at a time.
It was pleasing to hear Archer's comments rating him in the top three player's he has seen.
Harvey is pure and simply a marvel and to hear comments made by a couple of tossers on one NAB cup game says more about them than it does about Robert Harvey.
Oh that's right Thomas claims he saw the signs last year and even wanted to exit Harvey out the year before that, what a fair dinkum knob gobbler.
Apparently Harvey was none to pleased with Thomas's assessment's of him and where he was at, both last week and in the previous season's.
Is it any wonder that Harvey is over the moon to finally have a Real McCoy coach with a Fair Dinkum clue and thankfully because of this, we are still priviledged to see the legend playing for St.Kilda in 2008, which most surely would not be happening if Tosser Thomas was still driving without any petrol in the tank.
Robert Harvey still has a chance to play in a Premiership and this dream is kept alive because we now have Ross Lyon coaching us, a coach who truly respects the absolute champion that Robert Harvey is and continues to be.
We can thank our lucky stars for this

To hear that Harves was annoyed to me means that he was really pissed off.Teflon wrote:"

He'll respond like the quality player and individual he is by letting his footy do the talking. Thomas is becoming more and more of a caricature of someone who knows what they're talking about. What a half-arsed flog he is. Degree of respect for Thomas = zero. Brereton: who cares. He's just a pallid little media sl*t.
Awesome post, couldn't agree more.barks4eva wrote:Robert Harvey is the consumate professional and aside from being an out and out champion/legend, he is a super fit athelete with a second to none training regime.

I heard GT's comments played back on KB's show on SEN a week or so back. I didn't hear anything in it that was particularly negative. Sure it wasn't the type of 100% positivity and backing you would hear from a coach about one of his players, but nor should we expect that any longer from Thomas, who is now a media commentator. My recollection is that he commented on Harve's game, which wasn't one of his best, but nothing more really. Can someone tell me what he said - quotes pls, that was so bad? I haven't heard Dermott's spray, but knowing his sort of Sensational stuff, perhaps GT is being attributed with something that really was generated from DB? I am anything but a GT disciple by the way, but let's be fair.

Apparently GT 'agreed' with Dermott's spray of Harves on air. ( I say apparently because I didn't hear it at the time)doggerel wrote:I heard GT's comments played back on KB's show on SEN a week or so back. He then went on air on the Monday morning and repeated that he agreed with Dermie about Harves.
His comments were enough to get most of the media commentators talking about them and enough to get the 4 people on Footy Confidential to raise it.
I heard a replay of the SEN call of Saturday night's game and Andrew Jarman (SA equivalent of Billy Brownless/Dermie) went on and on about ridiculous comments about Harvey.
If you feel that there was nothing much in it then it would appear you are amongst the very small minority who feel that way.
Dermie said it looked like Harvey was playing in Gumboots, commented that his kicking had no penetration & that his decision making was slow.
He then went on to say that the only good part of his game was his ability to use the handball to create space for other players in the fouth qtr.
GT the commented that there were signs that Harvey was slowing in the last 6 or so games last year and that this game was a continuation on from that. Then went on to say he is a champion player & he hopes that he can turn it around. There really wasn't alot coming out of GT's mouth

The grab of the conversation replayed on KB left out parts that offended the most.....
Magic has covered it.

Is it just me or were GT's comments actually pretty fair?
Brereton's were pretty harsh, but sheesh, I didn't hear them both in full until last night - and there's no way GT was as out of line as people think.
Harvey did drop off in the areas which GT mentioned, and his hamstrings probably exacerbated the issues.
DB was more ripping Harvey, that was a little cringeworthy. But it's still just an opinion, so there's no need to get angry. I'm almost sorry for Derm actually....he's tried to give an honest appraisal of something - which is his job - and it's blown up in his face pretty badly. He would still be a big fan of what Harvey has done for the past 21 years.
I mean, christ, we all loved tearing into Mick Martyn at the end of his career...horrible as he may of been, but there was no respect to Mick whatsoever. One bloke who kind of got away scot-free was Nathan Burke, who really did struggle in his final year...but nobody wrote him off, interestingly.
Harvey's not the first champion to be told he's past it: plenty ripped Carey, Ricciuto...and Brereton, too. They were largely right there.
But sometimes they get it wrong: Lynch, Bradley and Salmon were all told they were past it, and still got up.
It can go either way.
