The Perfect Pre-Season!

Post: # 529143Post Violent Stool »

I don't think I've ever seen the Saints get a pre-season under our belts than this year.

On and off the field, it's been as close to perfect as you could expect.

Survived and prospered from what usually would have been a nasty board spill.

Some star recruits off-field, including Misson and Drain.

Some star recruits on-field. Shneider is a gun, King and Gardiner look the goods at this stage and Charlie Gardiner is the perfect '3rd tall' (well, it's more like the 5th now!) we needed.

The young guys look to have stepped up. Armitage is a gun.

We played interstate twice, and won both.

We played 2 really good clubs and won both.

We played 3 very close games and won them all.

What a start!!

How far down the rabbit hole do you really want to go?

True, I can't wait to see the boys in action in Round 1, and also for the return of some players, with Gehrig, BJ, Goose and some other players.

Have a feeling this year is our year :D

Great post.

Wouldn't call it perfect and there are a few things that we less than ideal (injuries to G and Maxie, playing in the heat etc.) but RL must be pretty damn happy with our lead-in to the real stuff ...

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Negative points.

G, Max, Kosi injuries. (Though Kosi's didn't prove to be much if anything)
Goddard, Maguire not getting up and playing at least 1 NAB cup game.
Fiora's form, Milne's form in the first few games - These are about the only two guys who I would consider are stagnating or going backwards. Milne did come good last night, so that's pleasing to see.

Everything else is extremely positive.

Excuse me. Milne was good in 3 of the games.

I agree that Milne has been good....and am not sure why he has copped so much flack.

His tackling has also improved.

Milne cops it because the same morons who bag him for getting caught, giving away frees and not handballing etc., are the ones who expect him to kick 6 every week and do the impossible.
