Kosi Vs. Rutten
Kosi is awesome up forward, and looks to be fitter and stronger than ever. His form so far this pre-season suggests he will be a genuine top 5 forward of the league this year.
However he hasn't really had much genuine opposition from a defender yet.
Tonight he certainly will. Rutten is a star and to be frank, never gets beaten. He's big, strong and quick. From an Adelaide perspective, the perfect matchup for Kosi.
I can't wait to see how our boy goes tonight against one of the best going around! Only a pre-season match of course, but a great test for Kosi.
A side note will be if Gehrig plays, who gets him with Rutten taking Kosi (I assume).
I can't wait!!

How far down the rabbit hole do you really want to go?

Probably have Bassett or Stevens on Gehrig, and Bock on Riewoldt. All three of those blokes are first class defenders. I have enormous respect for Adelaide's back half, it's the rest of the team that isnt much chop.
Adelaide is one of the only teams that will match up on us defensively. The good thing is that their forward line is quite inexperienced. With bock moving down back, they have guys like Tippett and Burton as their main targets, losing Welsh will hurt them a bit. I used to think Ken McGregor would be an absolute star. He showed signs of greatness many times but just couldn't string that form together.

really interesting part of tonights game will be how roo, charlie and kosi work in tandem. The crows backline is awesome and this will really show where we are at. Will be important to get first hand to the ball in the centre as this will help our forwards no end!
Looking more and more forward to this match.

Rutten didn't have more than 3 goals kicked on him last year for the whole season ...
So if Kosi kicks 3 goals then I reckon he's broken even with Rutten.
The one thing he does have over most of the forwards Rutten plays on (Hall, Gehrig, Mooney etc.) is a couple of extra centimetres.
Will be an interesting tussle.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Gehrig wasn't named was he? Isn't there a fine for playing a player that isn't named?
You're right, Rutten doesn't get beaten so I don't see Kosi beating him (I hope I'm wrong). If Kosi breaks even and kicks a couple it will be a good result.
However, if our midfield can dominate I can potentially see Kosi getting a small bag. If we deliver the ball into our forward line well, giving Kosi every opportunity, even Rutten will find things difficult.
It's all about delivery. Roo is the perfect example. No defender in the comp can really match up on him but when the delvery to Roo is a bit off it makes it look like his opponent is breaking even with him. A defender is going to win most 50/50 contests beacuse they only need to spoil. This is where our crumbing and tackling pressure come to the fore.
If Kosi provides a contest and our pressure and intensity are there, then we'll give ourselves every chance.

This will be a great test for our forward line, I don't see any defenders with the tank to match Roo and Gardiner...
Kosi should kick 2 or 3 but if the supply is good could be 5 or 6

As I've said all along, Kosi is not a good forward.
Beats poor defenders, but good ones have him for breakfast.
Kosi needs a run at a contest, or he is next to useless. Good defender, like Rutten, don't give him that. We saw this again last night.
He needs to play as a ruck rover basically. Drift back (as King can't take a mark) then drift forward when he needs to.
Such a waste as a FF.

he kicked five against geelong last time he played.rodgerfox wrote:Oh, and one more thing - he still can't kick for goal.
he was beaten by a very good opponent last night, but significantly kicked one that counted when the game was in the balance

i've edited that. he kicked five last time he played for us.rodgerfox wrote:On his PSP in the grandstand?bigcarl wrote:he kicked five last week.rodgerfox wrote:Oh, and one more thing - he still can't kick for goal.
can't wait to see him in a forward line that contains also riewoldt and gehrig. ought to be like shooting fish in a barrel for at least one of them on any given day.
if rutten gets kosi, who is going to mind fraser? it's an exercise in lateral thinking

He also missed a crucial one in the 3rd only to see it bounce up the other and the Crows goal.bigcarl wrote:he kicked five against geelong last time he played.rodgerfox wrote:Oh, and one more thing - he still can't kick for goal.

we must have someone in the forward line who can take a contested mark and it seems that RL has decided that will be kosi's role this season.rodgerfox wrote:He also missed a crucial one in the 3rd only to see it bounce up the other and the Crows goal.bigcarl wrote:he kicked five against geelong last time he played.rodgerfox wrote:Oh, and one more thing - he still can't kick for goal.

i applaud that decision and, imo, it will help transform us from the lowest scoring team in the competition to one of the highest.

Can't kick goals.
Can't take marks
Can't ruck
Can't run
He's obviously a dud!
