guess what - WE WON
despite the negatives that seem to inhabit some
the players admit there are areas to improve
the coach admits there are areas to improve;
BUT
it was 36 degrees- to me the lack of overexcitement at the end of the game came more from sheer heat exhaustion- the commentators admitted to not wanting to walk out in the open as they arrived- let alone run around an open windless oval for 2 hours
there were players coming back from injury and being ' managed'
there were young guys with limited AFL- let alone Final experience.
we played a team who REALLY wanted to win and yet the Saints persistance won through
All our players got game time and it was managed to best suit the long term
Can some of you go back and watch a tape- sorry if you didn't tape it- it's worth looking for the little things.
yet again our back line was more inexperienced than experienced
yes some mistakes were more obvious than others
but most of the player could attest to atleast one for the night.
all 26 players played their part- even if it was to fill a spot on the ground so that those that were firing could get close to the ice for a brief respite. sometimes filling a spot IS enough-
be honest we're looking a lot better than a couple of other teams, we Don't need single player- we have a team- some star on some night/days and others on differant ones and even the BIt players did play their part.
GO SAINTS

Quite possibly your best post ever saintbrat. Agree with everything you've written.
They stuck to their pre-season plan of time on ground for each player & pulled off a win which adds much needed dollars to the club coffers & game time & experience to the players.
Bring on today at Frankston Oval & also 22nd March.
Love this club.

Yes it is all in the main very positive, deliciously so.
We do have need a key position defender or two.......so lets hope that Max and Goose do come back.

The lack of excitement at the end of the game was the best thing of the pre-season so far.saintbrat wrote:despi

Clearly, the players have a sense of perspective.
