Individual players greatest games.
Just before the season starts is always a good time to look back on some of the best games of our players, and see if they can match or better these throughout the year.
I'll throw up some obvious ones first.
Milne - 11 goals vs Brisbane, 2005.
Koschitzke - 3 BOG's in a row. (pick the best one of those 3).
Harvey - '05 semi vs Crows. (there were probably better games, but not in semi finals that went down to the wire)
C. Jones - NAB '07 vs Essendon
J. Gwilt - '06 vs Sydney on B. Hall (1 Brownlow vote)

Fraser's 10,9 & 8 goal hauls have always been great matches but one that sticks in my memory is last year's match against the Dockers. Fraser was kicking goals, tackling and causing a scene.

Mialan Faletic coming off the bench in the second half (was it against the Dees?) to play as ruck rover and racking up 28 touches in half a game.
Interesting fact was that was his only time he was played in such a role....despite the way he racked up the ball in that half.
The Saints tried to play him asa Key Forwarda role that The Ghost (the name hes known bu in SA)was not really suited for but because he kicked 5 goals 5 early on (was it debut against the Dogs) they kept trying him asa key forward.
I often wonder how he would have gone if they had not tried to make him intoa key position player.

Leigh Fisher amassing 36 touches or something like that against Hawthorn last year in that infamous match...
Lenny Hayes against Brisbane in 2004?? Can't recall how many touches he had but he was everywhere, and pushing himself to get to every contest, and I remember it as an inspiring performance.
Dal Santo against Melbourne last game of 2005 I think? 25 touches and 5 goals, that has to be worth something...

Re: Individual players greatest games.
That period in 05 was against pretty ordinary opposition. I'd say his game in Harvey's 350th was much better. Those four goals were absolutely essential in getting us what could have been a season saving win.Otiman wrote:Koschitzke - 3 BOG's in a row. (pick the best one of those 3).

he was unbelievable that day and it probably was the best game he played.plugger66 wrote:He kicked 10.7 out of 13.18. Best performance I have ever seen by a player. Kicked the last with 42 seconds to go to win by less than goal. If you ever speak to SOS ask him about it.Mr Magic wrote:Plugger the day he kicked 10 against Carlton (SOS played on him that day) at Moorabbin.
but there were so many great ones. must have kicked 10 or more goals dozens of times.
another that stands out in my memory was against hawthorn at the mcg. the year eludes me but it was the day dermott king-hit frawley.
we lost, but lockett kicked nine or so in a typically dominant performance.

It has been said that the dominant performance by Lockett that day left SOS so scarred it literally took him years to recover. The guy was an absolute steam-train, once he was on a roll you couldn't stop him.bigcarl wrote:he was unbelievable that day and it probably was the best game he played.plugger66 wrote:He kicked 10.7 out of 13.18. it was a great mark lockett took over sos. took it from behind and kept his feet. drilling it into the blues cheer squad.
but i still think nicky could have kept running and dobbed that goal
