Winning the nab cup vs winning Round 1 - your choice???
So boys and girls, a few on here are calling this Saturday night's mockbuster at Feral Park a "Grand Final" and are getting all jollied up about winning another title of sorts.
Personally, if it was a choice between knocking off the Crows next week or winning in Round 1 vs. Sydney, I'd go for the 4 points over the money in a heartbeat.
Thoughts???

round 1
win or lose the club gets money, (loser gets $200,000, winner $300,000)
and i dont know any crows fans at school so i can go back to school knowing i wont be bagged. but there are heaps of swans at school!!!!!
as long as it isnt anything more than a 8 goal lose this week i will be happy

we owe those crow lice bastards one........that saturday in september in 1997 was the worst day of my life........i couldn't stand seeing the faces of those smug pricks if they beat us in another grannie....even if it is only the pissy nad cup......some of you people...

Shame on those people who actually want the team to start the season with the 4 points.

i think we can win both
to me, once you are in the NAB grand final then it is worth winning. prestige and pride is at stake along with $100,000
and it is silverware, even if a little tarnished
we should play our best available and go all out to win it

It's 300k for the ansett cup by itself, but a cool Million if you win both in the same year....saintdooley wrote:its $300,000snippa wrote:Lets not forget the $1m bonus for winning preseason cup and 2008 AFL premiership......

Ansett Cup...it's a long way from 1997.
The Wizard Cup in 2004....kinda looked like a giant mixing bowl...and
Maybe the NAB Cup in 2008???
Would gladly see all 3 handed back if we had the chance to play in GF and win another real cup.

did you see the benchs faces in the last quarter
do you think they take it seriously?
I think it comes back to bite the teams that don't take it seriously eg swans
yes they won a flag (when they had incredible luck with injuries) but now the swans have no list to speak of from player 25 on , because over the last few years they have not blooded young players in "real match" situations. last year they got into real trouble with injuries and young players who came up could not cope with the real deal. same thing is going to happen this year except this year will be worse because of their aging and slowing list
you can't tell me that for players like armitage, geary etc that winnning as they have the last few weeks won't make them better players than playing in a nothing game in the bush.
this is stuff that over the next two/ three years can only benefit them
yes carlton suffered in the real season, that was because they were young players who could not see out the season, those young players now are ready (older and bigger) to take a step up and will be all the better for winning that comp
