silverware

Post: # 525170Post bigcarl »

who else thinks that we should now get serious and try to win the NAB cup?

imo any silverware is worth having and pays off in increased membership and prize money.

i know it has been a bit of a jinx for teams to win it only to fold later in the season, but having come this far without risking too many injuries we might as well play our best available

Yep, that is what I was thinking as well..

The silverwear is a nice thing to have, but fatting up the bank balance is much better, especially when we are talking about the NAb Cup!

THEN when we win the flag later on this year we can get the million dollar bonus

was just wondering what second got us.
that will go alittle way to raising the profit level for next year.

I'm not sure what the exact figure is but I'm pretty sure that it's in the mid 100 grands, with the main prize being about 360?
Either way it's great for the club...

AFL ups NAB cup prizemoney
http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,865 ... public_rss
February 07, 2008 THE prize money for the winners and runners-up in the NAB Cup pre-season competition will be considerably increased, the AFL has announced.

The winners will this year receive $350,000, up from $220,000, while the runners-up will win $160,000, up from $110,000.

To complete the carrot-and-stick approach, the league will also break with the practice of previous years by giving nothing to first-round losers.

"We've seen a big jump in the prizemoney for the home and away season and we see the NAB Cup as an exciting and prestigious thing to win," AFL football operation manager Adrian Anderson said of the league's rationale. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

the cup looks better than the wok we got 4 years ago too.

EDIT: Info already posted above. Beat me to it.

I think the cash is good, and I think Ross Lyon will do the smart thing, and continue to be as disciplined as he has been with line-ups, and match-time/rotations off the bench.
