The Nicholas Naitanui Cup !!

Post: # 520102Post Eastern »

I'm going early on this one and declaring that the Rd 22 game Melb v Rich will be the Nicholas Naitanui Cup. We've had the Bryce Gibbs Cup & the Kruiser Cup, so why not.

For those who don't know;

Naitanui is a 196cm ruckman from Swan Districts, is of Fijian decent, slaughtered Kruiser in the 2007 u18 carnival and was too young for the 2007 draft by 4 days !!

well we just picked up mcevoy and king...along with mg, kosi, rix and vr our ruck situation is a positive for once...

we should start to cycle back to looking at picking up a kpp in the next draft imo...

More mids! Our 28+ year olds will need to have replacements recruited no later than this coming draft. Hayes, Hudghton, Milne, Baker. That's 2 mids, 1 small forward, and a full back. That'd do me for a national draft.

Would also like to recruit someone to develop and bypass Birss.

Melbourne V Richmond could be very 'exciting'?

Actually there's decent odds of it being the 'Daniel Rich' cup

From the 08 Prospectus, predicted top 25 draft picks

Daniel Rich Midfielder 180cm
Subiaco 6/07/1990 75kg

Rich's impressive performances for Subiaco in the WAFL seniors late in 2007 stamped him as a likely high selection in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft. He has 16 disposals and booted three goals in the preliminary final before picking up another 13 disposals and two goals in Subiaco's grand final win. Possessing one of the best kicks of anyone his age, Rich ranked No.1 for effective kicks at the 2006 NAB AFL Under-16 Championships and has maintained an elite kicking efficiency in his junior career to date. He was named in the All-Australian team after the 2007 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships and has the numbers to suggest he's going to be an elite goal kicking midfielder at AFL level.

Still a tad under-sized, but he should grow

The Rich Naitanui Cup has a nice ring to it.

I think the decision should be made after this week whether we make a legitimate run at this coveted prize.

To tank or not to tank for the next six months.

You are all on the wrong track.

There will not be a Nicholas Naitanui Cup.....as he will be a Gold Coast Sharks player.

The AFL will want the Gold Coast Sharks to have some quality recruits...and they will be given the best kids in the land not currently signed by AFL players.

Sydney West will take a while to be birthed.....but the Gold Coast Team will not be far away...and Nicholas Naitanui will be their first recruit.

The next few years are not the years to be finishing low on the ladder as the normal draft cream will be sent to the Gold Coast.
