X-man set to deliver

FOR the last few years St Kilda has been seen as the promising young side that has not taken the next step.

And it is fair to say Xavier Clarke is the epitome of that – he has shown all the potential in the world without establishing himself. But the midfielder/forward knows it's time to start posting results.

X marks his spot

I'm sure there could be a pun about G finding his spot or something along those lines.

X becoming a true mid this year....and an effective one is something that could make a huge difference to the Saints in 2008.

The guy has talent, but has never really quite delivered to his potential.

His game against the Tigers certainly had me licking my lips.

It will be interesting to see how he backs this up against the Cats next week.

yeh there was that one and there was one that i remember where he took a mark and the kept flashing to his family in the stands and he went in for his shot at goal and it rolled along the ground out of bounds and his familys faces were priceless. but both clarkes played well on friday IMO.

Having a couple of ruckmen who will protect him will be a real bonus for X. In the past he has been belted from pillar to post !!

X was real good Friday night playing through the centre, but with Hayes and Ball still to come back, how much time will he spend in the centre and through the midfield?

I am never sitting behind the goals on the first level again, from what I saw C. Gardiner was quiet, X was ok and Raph severely struggled for pace...
I need to get back up to the top level so I can see who's doing what...
If X could establish his spot in the side and start delivering on some of those promises that would be a huge boost to the side, we all know he has the skill and potential, the question is whether he can deliver it week in week out, while I'm as excited as everyone else we need to remember that it has only been one practice match...

I watched the whole game and my view is that Xavier Clarke won us the game. I thought he was fantastic, and if he doesn't hold down a midfield spot this year I'll eat my hat.

His in and under work was great, he has great skills and it's pretty obvious that Lyon is grooming him for a mid-filed rle this year. He is wasted on a forward flank and we now have several other options in our forwards (espacially after Gardiner's great show on Friday night).
