I like, really like. Pretty happy with his ball use.
Actually I liked all the kids, the whole team.
No Passengers....well, did Chivers play?

A very good game from Jarryn... He & Rob Eddy were very sharp, creative and at the bottom of packs.

Miles showed a bit, Howard was quick & did some nice things, Armo was hard at it but I thought needs to get more of the pill, Jones was fantastic. Even Jack Steven presented very well & got a few nice touches.

Lots of encouraging signs from the kids & some fringe players also showing they're having a fair crack.

I likely likely too.

At one stage Richo was alone and Geary took it upon himself to pick him up

Richo sensing the height advantage took Geary on in a lead and Jarryn got there spoiled the mark and then in heavy traffic gathered the sherrin and bounced to the middle of the ground before disposing into the forward 50

the kids got class...plenty of it

I thought Allen also showed enough smarts and poise to indicate he may be allright - showed that in a pre season game last year also....good news.

Geary, Jones, Eddy and Miles all played well. Allen did okay, and Armitage was disappointing, didn't get much of the ball but laid 1 or 2 good tackles.

Howard will have to make his way into the side as a defensive player. Showed his speed on occasion and has bulked up over summer.

I'm tipping quite a few no.42's will be sewn or ironed onto new footy jumpers this season!

Obviously the commentators struggled with him - one possession they called him Armitage, another Fisher, another Eddy. Good on him as well as all the Youngbloods.

Very harsh on Armo, he was quite good IMO.

Good defensively, but as I said, didn't get much of the ball.

Geary indeed showed quite a bit of promise in tonights game. Seemed very composed.

Armitage is young but I agree he is behind Geary/Eddy right at moment. Its not the amount of posessions (id like to see him get it more too) its about second efforts for mine.....I thought Geary/Eddy managed to have a greater influence on the contests they were directly involved in than did Armo from the middle.

Hes young so not panicking thats for sure.

agreed, geary looked like he belonged at this level. Seems to read the play very well and rebounds at the right time.

Armo just looked a little out of his depth but the little things he does is all class.

I wasnt there tonight unfortunately but watched the game on TV - and I understand that TV can distort the view (I get to most games) that said IMO Geary/Eddy still had greater impact in their direct contests from what I saw. The standout mids (from TV) appeared to be Montagna/X - was that not so?

I wasnt saying he was better than the other 2 but his second efforts were so much better than last year. And X was BOG IMO.

He'll improve further nodoubtg Plugger which is a huge plus - I guess having not seen much of Geary/Eddy (and read the hype on here for these guys) I was mildly surprised to see them live up to it.

All round good signs.

Armo may have only had 8, but if he keeps playing like that, it's only a matter of time before he starts getting double that. I thought his attack on the ball was excellent. I never saw him shy away from contact. Geary and Eddy were both good too, but they were playing a different game away from the stoppages. We need another in and under type and I thought Armo showed a lot of promise in that role tonight, even if he didn't get a stack of possessions.

Interesting to see different perspectives on the game - probably right as TV doesnt give the 1 % stuff.

I did enjoy his tackling work but would like to see him obviously get more footy but moe importantly influence more results at stoppages etc but that will come and he is young so great signs.

Have been on the Geary bandwagon since late last year,

looks a very impressive player who finds space well and runs with the ball.

I'd pick him in round one and have they released odds on who will win the NAB rising star this year?
He's an outsider but worth a splash
