Match Reports

After a long summer the journey over the Latrobe Street bridge was an enjoyable one, especially with a balmy breeze blowing off Victoria Harbour. After enquiring as to the damage of a footy record, I was glad I'd printed off the team sheet from the members email when the young lady replied $7!

We were soon basking in the early evening atmosphere on level 1 as Tigers supporters around us predicted a big yellow & black win. The sight of a big unit in a number 15 jumper warming up out on the ground was one to behold. Fingers, toes and testicles were crossed for the injury gods to pick on someone else for a change.

The siren sounded & celebrations erupted as we entered the final 100 minutes of Darren Goldspink's umpiring career. The first quarter showed that the young Saints were committed and enthusiastic, Charlie Gardiner taking a few nice grabs, the new ruck combo working well & some youngsters showing up their more experienced opponents.

The tigers mounted somewhat of a half hearted comeback, helped out by Umpire no. 34's effeminate decisions and a fortunate rebound of the goal post following a Richo clanger.

The 2nd quarter was another good for the Sainters as supporters became familiar with names like Geary, Eddy, Allen, Miles, Howard and Steven. Raf looked strong and assured & supported Chips and Max with aplomb. X was in everything, with Jo-Jo and Dal swooping in with class possession when required. Even the much maligned Clinton 'Hey Bodie' Jones looked solid with pace and quality disposals.

The 3rd quarter was a bit lost when a pack of try hard 'Corey's sitting near the cheer squad decided a young family was fair game. The bunch of tools withered like the little pansies they are when security told them to pull their heads in. Eventually they were escorted out... I was very disappointed when they had disappeared despite their scary scary threats to get me outside. I was looking forward to breaking those ridiculous white sunnies that these wankers require at night!

Anyway the last qtr was a procession for the Sainters with the margin blowin out & Richmond supporters preparing for another long season.

A very encouraging performance considering the opposition were at close to full strength & the 10 or so best 22 players missing from the good guys.

Best- X.Clarke, Geary, S.Fisher, R.Clarke, Kosi (despite woeful kicking), C.Gardiner, King, Montagna, C.Jones.

Bring on the Cats/Dees in Canberra next week!

We were missing 10 of our starting 22 ...

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Honourable mention to the absolute hanger taken by Kelvin (no relation) Moore of the Tiges in the 3rd quarter

I read it and was shocked.

So I repeated it.

And I am still shocked.
