Composition of board according to club website ...

Post: # 517047Post Oh When the Saints »

Was browsing through the club website - I actually opened it before I went to bed last night and it had finished loading this morning - and noticed the list of board members at the club:
President:
Greg Westaway

Board Members:
Andrew Thompson
John Gdanski
Michael Nettlefold
Nathan Burke
Ross Levin
Simon Grant
No listing of the lady who had been on the FF ticket and on their website.

However, Michael Nettlefold seems to be back as a director/board member in some capacity.

The AGM will be interesting to see exactly what happens.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

So what happened to Chris Brant and Dana Nelson and where did Michael Nettlefold come from?

Who appointed him?

Has the Notice of Annual General meeting gone out to Members yet?
Surely the Board has to be finalised at that meeting.

Nelson and Brant must not have nominated??!!!

Nettlefold can anyone explain?

Why did Brant and Nelson not mominate......??

Was/has this been mentioned anywhere before??

At the time there was a bit of song and dance by Westaway....about how good Nelson would be etc etc

And it would appear that the information as reported on the Saints website is at odds with the information in the AGM notice?

Why
I would assume that MN has been "coopted".

Interesting though that many baked the old Board for making appointments...

Personally I think some coppting is good if used properly to round out skills.

If Dana does not front I will be annoyed though;

* as from the FF ticket she was the person whose impressed me the most in terms of her background and expertise...and what we were perhaps lacking.

*bugga all time has passed. All those that were marketed as being on the FF team should front....unless there is a mighty good reason why not.

Dana is not eligible to be a director if one of the proposed ammendment to constitution is voted in at the AGM, whereby you have to be a member of St.Kilda (adult member that is!) for at least a year to become a director....

Was she really a posibility anyway??

Therefore the current board are putting forward amendment.....
Would they have done this if Dana was proceeding to get on board??

I suppose clarifies that you must be a member (entitled to vote) for at least 12 months.... (director qualifications) a new article 10.3 inserted into constitution.

I'm not concerned until the AGM, and Nettlefold has a fair bit of business experience so he is probably a good addition.

But Westaway did talk up Nelson's presence .....

I'm sure there's a good reason/explanation for everything.

But I guess it's just wait and see.

I think when we voted we gave our proxy to Westaway or Burkie.....for them to vote for us.....isn't that how it works :?:

I do recall that there was always some doubt about Dana Nelson as she was not a Member nor even a Saints supporter. When approached, she expressed a strong interest in joining the Board if she were eligible - appears as though she is not eligible.

At time apparently eligible.....

if the resolution is passed at the AGM she would then apparently be ineligible.

She did become a member last year I recall, so perhaps she will come on board at some stage & hopefully is working in the background in the meantime.

I asked a director at the game last night , who said briefly that Dana Nelson just started on maternity leave from her CEO job at Delaware north, and so I suspect that has something to do with it. He said that the CEO at Transurban where Chris Brant works as CFO is resigning, and Brant is in the running , and in the best interests of the club Brant said he cant give the time needed to be a director , but nettlefold was sounded out and he reckons he will be a great addition to the board.

I'm happy with this board. Personally, I doubt there has been much conspiracy. I reckon it's got a nice mix of managerial and footy. So far, so good. The fact that someone like Dana Nelson had other matters arrive does not mean she cannot be playing a part in repairing issues within her sphere of capability.

I don't reckon we need to spend time worrying about problems that don't exist. Relax, enjoy the on field progress.

Agreed, but one of the issues against the previous Board was their 'backroom deals' and one of the 'planks' of FF was 'openness'.

They were not shy in trumpeting the achievements of their individual members and I reckon they should have advised the membership if the Board we were asked to give our proxies to was not the same Board they were eventually running with.

I for one would have found nothing wrong with a 'mention' that one of the prospective Board Memebrs, Dana Nelson, was not proceding because she was pregnant.
The fact that they chose not to mention it to the membership and proceded to just replace her smacks of similar arrogance that most found unacceptable from the previous Board.

Agree Mr Magic.

A statement on the club's website about Nelson and Brandt would have been sufficient.

Disappointing that both won't be able to join, but hopefully Westaway still feels he has enough of the required expertise.
