Saint dials S for stars' support
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

the real good news will only come in late March when the real season starts and only then if he holds up, until then, for all we know it's just spin.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Re: Saint dials S for stars' support
Despite disappointing last year in finishing half a game outside the eight, the Saints firmly believe they are a premiership contender, a view supported by punters who rate them equal second favourite at $10 with TAB Sportsbet behind Geelong, which is a $3.50 chance of claiming successive flags.
The confidence stems in part from its recent history with Geelong. The two teams were seen as the Victorian sides most likely to end the interstate dominance when finishing third and fourth in 2004.
it must burn in the guts of our young core group that geelong have a flag and we don't
... particularly since we had their measure in the recent past and gave them several good thumpings
if i was ross i'd be using this as a key part of his motivation

Bit cynical!!?? Yeah, they're just telling porkies all through pre-season, no-ones fit at all - we're all stuffed!! Whatever!!saintspremiers wrote:the real good news will only come in late March when the real season starts and only then if he holds up, until then, for all we know it's just spin.

No I'm not saying that.yipper wrote:Bit cynical!!?? Yeah, they're just telling porkies all through pre-season, no-ones fit at all - we're all stuffed!! Excuse me for being cautious.
In case you hadn't noticed, we don't play a REAL match until 22 March.
I am optimistic, just don't want to get carried away on the 11th of Feb, is that not allowed??
All the best for Goose, he was an awesome player a few years back and I'd love to see him at his best again naturally!

Re: Saint dials S for stars' support
Had their measure? At best we've broken even with them over the past 5 years. Win one, then lose one.bigcarl wrote:... particularly since we had their measure in the recent past and gave them several good thumpings
2003 1-1
2004 2-1 (if you include the Wizard Cup win)
2005 1-1
2006 1-1
2007 0-1
Total 5-5
Given they won a flag in 2007 and had a genuine dominant season I'd think we've some catching up to do before saying we've "had their measure".

okay, didn't realise it was that even.St DAC wrote:Had their measure? At best we've broken even with them over the past 5 years. Win one, then lose one.bigcarl wrote:... particularly since we had their measure in the recent past and gave them several good thumpings

i'll rephrase it
it must burn in the guts of our guys to have seen geelong go past us as the best victorian team.
and to see them win a flag must have really hurt, particularly after those couple of spankings we gave them in 2004.
if i was ross i'd be using this as a key motivation strategy
