EDITORIAL: Avoiding scrutiny by media not on
09Feb08
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The latest development in this somewhat-paranoic fear of the media is the fake press conference. This week's contrived effort by the St Kilda Football Club _ an online question and answer session between Saints co-captain Luke Ball and a club employee _ kept journalists from asking their own questions about the skipper's decision to stand down. Ball only answered questions the club, or himself, or both, wanted to answer on the issue.

Where would we stand if governments and big business were to adopt the same practice in a bid to avoid scrutiny by the media? Their attempts at media management are already problematic.
where has this opinion writer been for the last 7 years- Eddie does it all the time, people in all walks of live do NOT invite the cameraman unless they really want Good attention,

OR they get on the front foot and announce bad news themselves to seem like the proactive. and Yes the saints use the strategy But so do most fields of life.

nothing better for fundraising than product placement.

I'd rather our club ask the questions than media types ask loaded questions that they can use to attack the club with later.

In the Geelong Advertiser who go out of their way to write incisive hard-hitting articles about their hometown heroes The Pussies?
