NAB Cup prize money raised
The prize money for the winners and runners-up in the NAB Cup pre-season competition will be considerably increased, the AFL has announced. The winners will this year receive $350,000, up from $220,000, while the runners-up will win $160,000, up from $110,000. AFL football operations manager Andrian Anderson said, while different clubs placed varying levels of emphasis on the pre-season competition, the extra money on offer would doubtless increase motivation.

So Anderscum reckons the extra $130K on offer will increase motivation eh?

Well, isn't he really admitting there is a problem with the comp?

IF the prizemoney for winning was $1 million, then that might be the figure that would "increase motivation".

Even the poorest clubs realise that whilst the extra $130K is handy, if trying to win the NAB Cup compromises your real season preperation, it's then a fools economy.
