Listen to Harry Gregg on SEN

Post: # 516229Post saintbrat »

I think that's his name
was on morning glory this morningaround 6.30
he survivied the Manchester unity plane crash
but what struck me was his quality as a person- a true gentleman who went back more than once to get others out.

ITS BEING REPLAYED AT 2pm during Doran's program.

I think his name is actually Harry Gregg.

I missed the interview but love to hear it.

I read his book 30 years ago when I was only a kid and hadn't heard of the Munich crash yet. When I read his account of the crash I was stunned.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Harry Gregg.

Goalkeeper in that United side.

An absolute hero.

As he came to, and realised exactly what had happened, he ran back into the burning plane and pulled his teammates out, dead and alive.
SS, do you still have the book? Id love to read it..

Unfortunately not Nick.

I borrowed it from the Donvale High School library. The school doesn't even exist anymore. The book was even old then.
