St Kilda primed for big season
Last Update: Wednesday, February 6, 2008. 3:54pm AEDT

By Josh McDermott

The young Saints looked big, the new recruits looked keen and the old hands are excited about their prospects in season 2008.

The Saints finished their three day community camp in Ballarat today and are headed back home injury free and ready to start the pre-season competition full of confidence.

"The team has been going very well, we've got the fitness guru so to speak from Sydney, Dave Misson and he has brought in a structure that we think is going to help the players get through the majority of the season," says St Kilda midfielder Leigh Montagna. "Guys that have had problems with injuries in the past or are coming off injuries last season have been really structured in what they have done

My glasses are as "rose-coloured" as anyones on here, but for an injury-free squad, the list of non- participants in Intra-Club seems quite lengthy

We have regularily had a large rehab group during preseason.

Not so this preseason. Everyone but Goose has just about been training all preseason. The pundits say that a good preseason is everything

I dont want to put the mozz on us but isn't it time we had some injury luck?

Robbed by injury 2004-06 and first half of 2007.

We keep our best team on the park like Sydney in 05, WCE in 06, and Geelong last season, and we have the cattle.

All sounds OK, but we have been cruelled before.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

The injury situation was not bad luck, it was bad management by poor staff.

That seems to be fixed for this year so we should make our own luck just like WCE, SYD and Geelong did over the past 3 years.
