My point I guess is that if you have the physical attributes to be a key defender, the rest can be taught, even if the player is not an instinctive footballer.

Geary 80% A Star already we will see alot more of this kid this year and not due to injuries he'll push his way into the side.
Van Rheenen 75% Our best chance of sucess with OUR RUCKMAN since Spida. Progressing VEry Well
Eddy 60% Very gifted and has what it takes
Attard 80% In my opinion he has already made the grade will take a long time to get back into it but will get there
Miles 20% Unknown at this stage
Chivers 20% Unknown at this stage
Haretuku 20% Unknown at this stage
McQualter 80% McQualter just needs the belief back and having been redrafted hopefully that's all it will take

Don't you think the "second best ruckman in the draft behind Kreuzer" McEvoy is a better prospect than a rookie from Scoresby?

Further on this, VR will be serviceable but we have Gardiner, King, Rix for the next few years at least, then McEvoy will come up, and we may even recruit another ruckman in the national draft along the way. There is also Haretuku to consider as a potential spot stealer. It's just a matter of if we want to keep him listed as a saints player until he 'comes good', will need to start playing some games in the Scorps seniors, which will be difficult with Rix there.

In 4 years time, we should have 2 starting ruckman, one backup, and one developing. Currently we have 2 starting ruckman (King, Gardiner), one backup (Rix) and 3 developing (Haretuku, McEvoy, Van Rheenen).

Just checked out his VFL stats, as limited as they are sadly (VFL website only gives number of games, goals, and number of times in bests).

LVR's 2007
12 Scorps Seniors games (1 goal, 0 bests)
5 Scorps Reserves games (3 goals, 0 bests)

30% of rookies play on average so the chances of our players making it should average around 30%. Most on here have it way to high. About 2 could make it on average. Who they will be is anyones guess.

Agreed (but I still can't be bothered going back and changing my %'s). Rookies are best used more as hopefuls, rather than relying on them to be the future of the club. This is where guys like Raph and Armo need to step up and show their worth as a first round draft pick.

Having seen VR play many games I honestly believe he has what it takes and will be very good vaule for us.
I haven't seen the other two play so i can't comment.
We do seem to have alot of ruckman at the moment but king and gardiner will only have about 4 years left in them each and then we will need to look to VR and McEvoy

In all fairness, you rated Brooks and (i think) Schwarze, neither of which are playing anymore.

Always good to see, and I believe that unless we draft a 2nd or 3rd round ruckman in the national draft, VR has a future at St. Kilda.
