entry into Friday night footy at the dome

Just back to the OP for a sec..
Essendon home games at TD are ALWAYS all-ticket. This is because they have a large amount of reserved seatng scattered around Level 3. Apart from that, unless there is a change of policy from season '07, the most regimented a TD will be is the first 6 rows of the Level 3 wing areas being ticketed with a "premium" price. Believe it or not, whilst TD are very keen to have more "all"-ticket games, the AFL want to maintain as much traditional "walk up" seating at games as possible..and before the usual Dimwit-bashing suspects shout this down..its 100% fact.
Me?? Personally the atmosphere is more important than the view. Ever sat in the Medallion Club? Fantasic view of the game, but you get kicked out for sneezing too loudly. Gotta say the Level 2 Saints reserved area was pretty quiet the night I sat there. Granted it was a less than entralling game (Saints v Freo, Round 22, 2004) but I remember thinking that even mild Moorabbin Wing-style behaviour would have got dissaproving stares.

You may have to queue for a few minutes imediately after a big game when a flood of members all want to get in at once...but apart from that you just walk straight in...
Non SC members need to pay $5.

A tip for quenching the thirst quickly straight after the game particularly after a win and/or with a big crowd...is to avoid the main bar which has the biggest queues....and head instead for the "can" bars which are set up at tables at the back and "left" side (your left as you walk in with the main bar immediately on your right) of the Victory Room
