Telstra Dome naming rights
I was watching the Ten Late news tonight, watching the Twenty/20 matches. Then I seen "ANZ Stadium" that looked like Telstra Stadium so I googled up the stadium and I seen they had a name change. I was wondering if Telstra Dome is getting a new name soon since its been over 5 years. Do you know whats happening?

Both stadiums (telstra dome and stadium) have the "Telstra" naming rights until the end of 2009 (by google search)....

The web address is still the same but the banner at the top of the page and all stadium references throughout indicate a name change.
I think Telstra Dome will be changing soon, Telstra is apparently redirecting the sponsorship money to community level initiatives.

Telstra will continue at the Dome until '09, but got out of the Homebush deal effective the end of '07 - and, as stated, it is now ANZ Stadium. I still think its a really nice ground, whatever its called.
Thats a bit less confusing now, but Skilled are in on it with the new stadium on the GC, for a second I thought the Titans had relocated to Geelong when a "Skilled Stadium memberships available" with thier logo flashed up on Fox Sports one night!

Its embarrasing to be a Storm member (and Victory, for that matter) and work for Suncorp - but its a great company, so I aint leaving.HSVKing wrote:Let's hope it would be the fortress just like Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane isriccardo wrote:It should be the Suncorp Dome.

(Yes! A Storm fan working for a major Bronco's sponsor!)
I'm working on them from the insiode to dump the loser Broncos and Roar and get on board good teams.

Who Cares !
The changing names and whims of sponsors illustrates why stadiums need to be referred to by their generic name.
Otherwise we have to rewrite history every time there is a sponsor change.
Our home ground is
D O C K L A N D S
Not "Colonial Stadium"
Or "Telstra Dome"
Or "Fly by night Multinational Stadium"
It is Docklands.
What relevance is it when someone looks up the record books many years from now and it says our highest ever 4th quarter score against Port was 8.4 52 in 2000 at "Colonial Stadium".
Where the hell was that ?

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
