I think it has more to do with where Kosi gets the ball (much closer to goal than Gehrig) than his kicking accuracy.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

2007 Steven Baker - 6.3 (67%)

Jayden Attard - 3.0 (100%) ;)

In 8 years, Baker has kicked 34 goals total, so if you're counting those.....

Kind of shows up the people who picked Goddard in the "who would you have kick at goal for your life" thread we had a while back.

Baker has kicked 70% of his 49 shots on goal over his career.

That is an indicator of a very reliable and accurate kick for goal ...

Does that include his kicks in the siren debacle at Aurora? :) Not taking anything away from the man, he's probably my favourite non-Harvey player. I just wouldn't pick him as the man who i'd want the ball in the hands of.

The one thing these stats don't take into consideration is out on the full, or rushed through as behinds.

All those blokes are around the 50% mark bigcarl ...

I've only watched training a few times, but I'll never forget seeing Bakes kick for goal for 10-15 mins once. It was freakish and he was Milney's equal IMO ...

He would make a terrific forward pocket down the track if we could spare him there.

well why not? seems he is a better kick for goal than a few other candidates. plus he is tough and rugged, qualities I like in a forward

I suggested this a few months ago, some of the goals the guy can kick are great, plus he would also be able to shut down a dangerous half back flanker of the opposition, the only thing is now with Schneider we may not need him... especially with Attard out.... If Dempster could come good and force his way into a back pocket I would imagine Baker would go up front...

HF: Baker Riewoldt Schneider
FF: Milne Koschiztke Gehrig

That is a formidable forward line, we still have guys that we can chuck in there from time to time like Xavier, Gilbert, Harvey, Ball, Dal....

looks pretty potent, but i'd like to see another marking target across half forward to break down our reliance on riewoldt a little

It would be nice to get a quality medium forward in there somewhere, however he don't really have any atm so I think I would rather go with 3 quality talls and 3 quality smalls....

The thing is though, our 3 smalls can all take a mark when required to...

quality mediums (or blokes who can play like one) would be guys who can take a good mark but are equallly effective when it hits the ground. bj, gilbert, x (perhaps)

Baker in the forward line? That's about as good as making Gehrig a tagger.

why so?
He has all the attributes, accurate kick, can find the pill, applies ALO of defensive pressure, he has all the attributes that our forward line were lacking in '08...
As for BJ, Gilbert and X....

I believe that BJ should be either a Half Back Flanker or a winger ,Gilbert should rotate off the bench and go where needed as for X, I'm not so sure where his place is in our 22, he needs to step up otherwise he could lose his spot...

I feel that his best position is in the midfield and I also feel his role will be more of a defending one this year as opposed to his 2007 role.

The injury to Attard will affect his role somewhat and that injury will cause some sort of chain reaction within the group.

IMO Baker is needed more in a defensive type role in the midfield and back half

that's interesting i did mention bakes..
he's actually very good at snapping goals and if anyone remembers saint scared he actually beat milney in the goal kicking comp... he managed i think 4? daicos goals in a row apposed to milney's 3 to win the round.

he could make a very handy forward i think.
