Possible Rip off ?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ST-KILDA-97-98-R ... dZViewItem
I mean i personally couldnt see Harvs signing his name with "97,98" underneath it. Also the jumper is a 2007 Bill express/skins jumper, not a "brownlow years jumper" as quoted

It does look dodgy, doesn't it? Definatly a 2007 guernsey. And why would harvs sign 97, 98 at the bottom of a 2007 guernsey? We all know he won the brownlow those years. My guess is it is a fake. Perhaps someone copied it off another guernsey where he actualyl wrote that. I know some people do that with posters and stuff. Though this would be harder.
Send the bloke a message and ask him why 97, 98 is written on it...

No way Harvey would write that unless specifically asked to, so that could be the case, the seller could have written the '97 and '98 himself or it could be a dodgey, if I had to guess, I would say it's a dodgey...

Not the case as a normSeaford_Saint wrote:I have a framed jumper at home which Rob personally signed for me.... when doing so, he mentioned he always puts "To xxxx" where 'xxxx' is the person's name, to ensure it can't be on-sold to any Tom, Dick or Harry....
he may of just said that the day you got it signed....
If you want it to.......XXXX ask to do it
when surrounded by many (FAMILY DAY) just sig again unless you request

obviously the seller makes a habit of getting 'the names' on jumpers and selling them, given the others available on their link. ( the Judd/ cousins one the 'medalist' part seems definetly written by differant hand.)
one of the reasons the players/ sportsmen in general don't hold much value to signing things for older people- in particular jumpers- they realise that people will do this..
"Genuine" momentos much harder to come by;
the kids with multiple signatures on jumpers or in the handmade signature book -would be much more appealing,
on this jumper would not 2007 be of more value- given that he is/was the oldest player still going around,

Signature looks genuine, but take into account the comments about the jumper and dates mentioned by other posters.
A bit pricey being as it is not a game-worn jumper with a COA from the club.
Says it has a COA but COAs from sellers are not worth the paper they are printed on.
I wouldn't myself pay $150+ for a Robert Harvey signature on a jumper, but as a used car salesman once said to me, things are worth the top price that you can get someone to pay for them.

yea, for a fact i have rob's signature without it being personalised on a jumper! Although i would never even think about selling the item at all, there are sick people out there selling rip offs!chook23 wrote:Not the case as a normSeaford_Saint wrote:I have a framed jumper at home which Rob personally signed for me.... when doing so, he mentioned he always puts "To xxxx" where 'xxxx' is the person's name, to ensure it can't be on-sold to any Tom, Dick or Harry....

I think the sig is fake, compared to what i have it doesnt seem to look like that maybe because its much smaller and harder to see in the picture. But its worth informing people if it is a fraud, considering the other items he is selling off too!

unless it has an offical COA i wouldnt waste your $$
as for bangers always signing "To XXXX"
ive got heaps of stuff signed by the great man not one with my name on it
personally i find the Ebay memrobillia a bit tacky i would much rather get a jumper from the club and get it signed by the great man himself and frame it myself that way i know for a fact its real !

I'd never buy a footy jumper off ebay, especially if it is supposed to be a rare or limited edition jumper.
There was one seller who had multiple St Kilda jumpers with about 15 signatures on sale for around $500 each, stating that it was signed by the full 2004 Wizard Cup grand final team. There were signatures of players who weren't even on the list in 2004 and the jumper had Bill Express logos on it. At the bottom it had the usual "100% genuine, all items certified by COA etc" line even though it was obviously bulls***.
But the worst thing about them was that it also stated that it was an absolute bargain and you wouldn't find any price like it anywhere else. This auction started at $500. I bought a better jumper with more signatures on it for $80 in the Victory room.

Looking at the handwriting... it looks almost the same.
Harves is a left handed writer, and the numbers are possibly slanting the wrong way for a left hander (I'm unsure as I am not one).
Any lefties out there able to write the same numbers, in texta, and then post a picture of it on the site?
