Archie fraser's Xmas message
http://www.saints.com.au/Default.aspx?t ... wsId=54470
On my last working day of the year, I’ve just attended a BBQ with our playing group, coaches and support staff and there’s an unquestionable excitement in the air! This isn’t because there’s no training for two weeks but it’s largely driven by you – our members and supporters. I think we’re lucky enough to have the best supporters in the league and everything we do here at the Saints is focused on exceeding YOUR expectations.......
really nice!!
since i don't know maybe since the old board left. he has done a very good job. am quite happy with him as CEO

Yes but according to the posters here with the anit rod agenda 9and we all know who they are) Archie was hopeless, out of his depth, a waste of space, a Butters lackey, had it leaked that he was intimidating female employees (a slur on his character), had destroyed our redevelopment etc so on and so forth.
But suddenly, with the revelation that the SFF wanted Archie to stay on as CEO, he was suddenly St.Archie, the best CEO in the League, and was great at his job
Oh no, there was no agenda to destabilise the club in 07 by the anti Butters forces was there?

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Well I think of it this way...what has he done since the end of the season in preperation for the 2008 season.....SENsaintsational wrote:My jury is still out on Archie, in response to JB's comments. New board or no new board.
Hard to tell whether his 2007 indiscretions were 100% him or not.
We will have to wait and see what he brings to us for 2008!
Good appointments....Misson, Drain, Wallace, Barbour who have then hired the rest of the football and medical, conditioning staff...
New Commercial head in place Moore, and now a new head of Communications Schmitt....
New Major Sponsor...3 years...$6m
Must have played some part in the removal of Butters and board...
Got rid of Ken Sheldon and quickly replaced him with Drain..
Secured the Frankston move and what appears to be a great deal with a piece of land in the deal.....
Settled in the new board....
Kept us out of the media other than positive news....
18,000 members before Christmas...
Feedback is that the club is going well...(Iwas in on Friday and the people I spoke to all said there is a buz)...
What I take from this is that Butters and his board, didnt let him do his job as the CEO...we saw a few clashes between them last year over the GT spat and Moorabbin....It looks like since Butters has gone he has delivered on more than a few areas....
Our best is yet
to come......

That's spot on - he was in a straight-jacket under the Butterss Board.RBnW wrote:What I take from this is that Butters and his board, didnt let him do his job as the CEO...we saw a few clashes between them last year over the GT spat and Moorabbin....It looks like since Butters has gone he has delivered on more than a few areas....
The reality of course is that the CEO is the servant of the club, manages the business, provides advice to the Board and implements its decisions.
I have always maintained that he's been excellent (particularly in very difficult circumstances), and continue to do so (despite the fact that he's involved with the dastardley and misguided, although financially beneficial, decision to go to Frankston instead of Casey Fields [but there's more to come on that issue, believe me]).
We are very lucky to have him.
So if its financially beneficial it wouldn't seem to be that much of a disaster, it would be quite the opposite wouldn't it?casey scorp wrote:That's spot on - he was in a straight-jacket under the Butterss Board.RBnW wrote:What I take from this is that Butters and his board, didnt let him do his job as the CEO...we saw a few clashes between them last year over the GT spat and Moorabbin....It looks like since Butters has gone he has delivered on more than a few areas....

I don't recall saying it was a disaster.F_Q_F wrote:So if its financially beneficial it wouldn't seem to be that much of a disaster, it would be quite the opposite wouldn't it?
Financially beneficial might be one thing, but it's not the only measure of success in a footy club. It will set us up better financially from an asset perspective (and with hopefully consequential recurrent benefits), but from a long ter, perspective:
* will the location be as good for garnering additional membership from one of Australia's major growth areas that simply doesn't identify geographically with Frankston
* will the ground be everything we want it to be
* will the alignment issues work out ok.
But don't get me wrong, Archie's done a great job to get the financial deal for us and, if we can't get to Casey for all the other reasons, then we've got the next best arrangement going.

I was a bit concerned when Archie pulled out of further negotiation with Kingston council. Since then, however, he has been kicking goals without making much of a fuss.
If he only replied to my email to him after last year's AGM (as I was invited to by the Board), I would think he was doing well. Still holding my breath.

yep....i agree with that...and ..for the record.......it was the afl who were worried about intimidation or harassment of female employees...well, it was first raised by them ..not posters on this board.....

Hear hear Joff - I too recall the "lunch archie mob"...many gone silent decided to simply put the boots into Butters and now suggest it was "someone else who had the probs with Archie.....not the posters on this board"joffaboy wrote:Yes but according to the posters here with the anit rod agenda 9and we all know who they are) Archie was hopeless, out of his depth, a waste of space, a Butters lackey, had it leaked that he was intimidating female employees (a slur on his character), had destroyed our redevelopment etc so on and so forth.

GUYS !!
This whole Archie, RB, Board debate is a complete waste of time.
LETS LOOK AT SOME FACTS
1. The Rod Butterss Board, with Grant Thomas as coach did some great work for our club. Lets not forget that we made 2 x prelim finals in a row, and the Bill Express, NEC, Bunnings/British Paints, Vodafone deals were pretty good
2. Archie Fraser and his team were under resourced and working under duress for some time
3. The footy Dept has changed direction from the one man Grant Thomas style (Whether this style was right for the time has been debated to death, we hope). Some of this started under the RB Board and it has gathered momentum under the new administration.
4. The past couple of months have been all positive for the club with the bloodless coup, the JELD-WEN sponsorship, the Frankston deal, the additions to staff in key areas. Archie played a key role in all of this.
The CHALLENGE now is keep this momentum going. Not just in the lead up to season 2008, but for the next 4-7 years (crucial for the long term success/survival). This administration has the responsibility to ensure that the StKILDA BRAND grows and grows to a point where we are a real power in the AFL.
Each and every one of us can play a small part in the uprising of the StKILDA BRAND. Many members of this forum have already made a contribution through our PLAYER SPONSORSHIP for 2008. Congrats to all involved, especially the organizers.
The bottom line is;
LETS CUT THE CRAP and get on with supporting the club that we all love. After all;
WE ARE StKILDA !!

If the ex employees were good at what they did at the club... then why have none of them turnned up at any other AFL clubs .....and now it appears that morale is good and most of the people we have in place at the club now would get a job anywhere .....sounds like he is doing ok to me
The club was jumping when I went in before Christmas...
