My own personal opinion? If I was GT now and wanted to get everyone back onside with me I'd ring Greg Westaway and say "Hey there...I still believe that the Club owes me money..but that was the previous administration and my beef is with them not you guys..so I'll cope without the cash, put it towards winning our Club a flag!"
...
...then the alarm goes off and I find its all a dream
This is not directed at saint66au in spite of the quote, as i infer from the last line that he doesn't believe it realistic to expect any forgoance of pay.
However, I thought I'd jump on it because in that first paragraph, we have a perfect snapshot of what many seem to think a reasonable course of action. I find it mind boggling. I'm leaving my current place of employ in a few weeks for greener pastures, and hold nothing but goodwill towards the company I'm leaving - but if they had asked me to forgo my leave, I'd tell them to take a hike.
I love St. Kilda Footy club, this year I've got my membership, my partners membership, and I'm considering a social club membership, and one of those baby memberships they're offering.
However, if I thought the club owed me 100k, not for ones econd would I hesitate to collect. If the situation was not black and white, I would employ legal advise to advise me on how best to collect.
When I signed up my bro back in 2004, and the club sent me a $10 cheque, I never cashed it. That's disposable income that I can happily donate to a club that provides me with a lot of entertainment, and provides a great emotional release at the end of the week.
But 100k? You'd need to be pretty well off to walk away from that... That's a LOT of love to expect from someone.
