Did any of the new boys McEvoy, Steven ect.. do the run also ??plugger66 wrote:Some other interesting things out of the 3km time trial they had before training was Eddy won in 9.53 with the usual suspects up the front. Jarryd Allen was last in 11.30 or so but it was his best time apparently.
Having run a hard 3km before training wouldnt of helped their skills at training as they would have beeen buggered.

I'm pretty sure the only way to do that (apart from applying to the AFL for special circumstances, which we would not get in this case) is to delist him and pick him up in the rookie draft. In which case, I suspect he'd be snapped up before we had a chance to rookie him.saintspremiers wrote:If Armo doesn't show anything in 2008 I assume we can demote him to the rookie list and keep him on the cheap in 2009?
I fully expect that to happen a lot now with 6 rookies (as we did with McQ).
I'm also wondering if we would've rookied McQualter if he wasn't contracted for 2008, so we would have had to pay him for next year anyway.
It'd be a bit harsh to suggest that at this point anyway. Some players take longer, McQualter had three full seasons and never really looked like making his mark. Hopefully he'll come good though

The club rate Armitage highly from what I have heard, and rightly so.
He put together some outstanding and classy quarters in the VFL. The same criticism on fitness was levelled at Dal Santo when he was drafted, and look where he is now.
I know that RL is one for letting kids develop, and not expecting much until their third or even fourth season, which IMO is the right approach.
As Dan Warna says, by the measure of some on here, Montagna would have been delisted after 2004 (3rd season). Instead, he finishes 3rd in the B&F.

Well, Banger only played 4 in his first year, so Armo is on track for a successful career by that measure.Batnoe wrote:3 games in first year
They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

But to compare him to Banger in his first year, Banger was only 16 years old.......
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

Armo has a lot of raw talent and great natural footy instincts. He finds the ball easily, he generally makes good decisions and he's got plenty of mongrel. In the intra club match and at times in the VFL he looked like a ready made gun. But it is just the step up to AFL level that requires a higher fitness level that he struggled with.
There is no chance in hell that he will be delisted next year unless he gets himself into huge trouble.

In the replay match on Fox Sports last night he did some very good things, he looks like a Lenny Hayes type player with a bit more pace...

At training Lenny seems to be "tutoring" Armitage in all the drills.
Partners for everything. Armitage works well with him, hes a good leader.

No chance that Armo will be delisted, or rookie listed after 2008.
No chance.
This kid will be a gun. Not too often you see an 18yr old with as much natural strength and agro as he did when he was drafted.
Naturally knows where the ball is, how to get it, and has good disposal.
Definitely not slow, but have been questions about his endurance from his debut season.
Even if he only pays another 3 games next season, he will be kept on the list.

who are the usual suspects? roo, lenny, dal etc?plugger66 wrote:Some other interesting things out of the 3km time trial they had before training was Eddy won in 9.53 with the usual suspects up the front. Jarryd Allen was last in 11.30 or so but it was his best time apparently.
Having run a hard 3km before training wouldnt of helped their skills at training as they would have beeen buggered.
Destiny. It's in our hands.
Harder. Better. Faster. Stronger.
im just guessing but players who have been good with running this year at training have been: geary (easily second best to Eddy), c.gardiner, rix, Armitage, Dal Santo, Hayes, Howard and Montagnamilney044 wrote:who are the usual suspects? roo, lenny, dal etc?plugger66 wrote:Some other interesting things out of the 3km time trial they had before training was Eddy won in 9.53 with the usual suspects up the front.
