Who would Riewoldt represent?

Post: # 500262Post borderbarry »

If we returned to the format of a State of Origin Carnival, who would Nick Riewoldt represent?
He was born in Tassy, represented that State in Junior football, before moving to Queensland. He was recruited from Queensland into the AFL. But because he represented Tassy as a Junior, (he may have even captained the State team), I feel he should represent Tassy. What does everyone else think, and does anyone know the rules governing this?

It'd have to be where you are born otherwise the Vics have the majority of the players to choose from (even though we do already but you get it) and someone like Nick would be a Vic player.

Think the criteria is where you first played a certain level of football but I don't know what that level is.

Garry Lyon was born in Devonport but represented Victoria in State of Origin.

No, Nick represented Tassy at a Junior level, I would expect that to start with under 12 or 13 maybe, not under 6.

I don't know if I am right but it should be where you play your U18 footy. That would make Max a Victorian !!

i actually think its the state you are drafted from for example Daniel Wells was born in SA but move to perth and is now a constant pick for the WA side so in that case i think Roo would be QLD representitive not that it rally matters as he will be playing for that joke of a concept the "all star" team

When State of Origin died the criteria was where you had lived most between 10 - 17.

I was shocked that this meant I would be a Queenslander!!!

Ofcourse this was all academic anyway as I was 19 when the last SOO was played and wasn't good enough to play more than a handful of games for the Sorrento Seniors let alone State of Origin.

Oh and back to the topic, this would mean that Riewoldt would represent Queensland.

Qld/Tassie both would be The Allies (or similar composite side), as those states aren't really strong enough on thier own to field a side. Sad but true I'm afraid.

They have these players for starters

* Matthew Richardson
* Brad Green
* Russell Robertson
* Jade Rawlings
* Brodie Holland
* Peter Street
* Justin Sherman
* Grant Birchall
* David Neitz
* Jack Riewoldt
* Simon Taylor

That may be so but he is a Victorian and played all his junior footy at Parkmore.

How quickly we forget!! :)

Aaron Hamill was from the ACT and while he didn't manage a game, he was still on the senior list.

well...he would be only eligible to play for tasmania if he passed the test to qualify as a true taswegian...that is you count the total number of toes and heads then divide by two...if the answer comes out at more than 5.5 he is eligible to play for tasmania...otherwise he would represent queensland......

acctually you are right...its craig bolton, aaron hamill and james hird

two of them have retired so unless anyone from the act was picked up in the national draft or is picked up tomorrow, craig bolton is the only current player to come from our nation's capital
