Fergus Watts
Why on Earth was he delisted? He has been unlucky with injury, he's exactly the player we need, tall kp player with a solid frame. we should've given him more time

Re: Fergus Watts
Long term injuries stopping from playing AFL at anywhere near his full potential. Will not play lower grade footy either.signed sealed sainter wrote:Why on Earth was he delisted? watts had the unlucky fact of being born in the wrong era the modern game doesnt cater for the lumbering KPP in this day and age tall players have to have some speed and agility or else they will get carved up time after time .. had Ferg been born 10 years earlier he would of been a real good player

Yep I agree with that, makes you wonder though why a poster on here ranted and ranted for him to be our first draft pick ??st_Trav_ofWA wrote:watts had the unlucky fact of being born in the wrong era the modern game doesnt cater for the lumbering KPP in this day and age tall players have to have some speed and agility or else they will get carved up time after time .. had Ferg been born 10 years earlier he would of been a real good player

What a stupid post.riccardo wrote:Watts was a poor player before he was injured, thats just an excuse.
2 finals-playing clubs used first round draft picks on him.
10 goals in an SANFL prelim final, 7 goals in a VFL game... had unbelievable crap luck with injuries, and unfortunately his ankle never recovered from the original break.
With Jarryd Allen and now Ben McEvoy on the list, plus the anticipated move of Kosi into a more prominent forward line, there was no need for Watts. He possibly would have retired anyway.
I feel terribly sorry for him. Had great hands, and was a very decent shot for goal.

SANFL, VFL big deal. The under 18's is a much better standard, same as the old VFL under 19's was better than the reserves.
Watts is a dud and would never have been drafted by the Saints if his old man hadn't been CEO.
Has Archie got any kids? Maybe they could confuse the opposition with the accent.

He didn't even become available did he? I thought he didn't enter the draft.saintsRrising wrote:Why on earth did the other 15 Clubs not beat down his door when he became available?????
Strange story. He seemed like he was on the verge of AFL duty at Adelaide, who had no key forwards to speak of, then he demanded a trade to St. Kilda, a team who had plenty of key forwards. I thought we overpaid for him at the time. Fortunately our second round pick ended up better than most first round picks that year.
Yeah nah pleasing positive
