??? Innovation from Ess & WB ?? !!
It appears that the media have taken to this "NEW" Innovation that Essendon & Western Bulldogs thought of.
James Hird has handed the No 5 on to Brent Stanton & Chris Grant has handed the No 3 on to Andreas Everett.
Now I might be a bit vague at times with my memory, but can someone confirm that Nathan Burke handed the No 3 over to Xavier Clarke a few years ago. I also remember that we beat Richmond by 80 points that night & Nick Reiwoldt got cleaned up by Tim Flemming. I also remember the hand over being a real classy affair that was even applauded by the media at the time.
Did I dream this situation with Burkey & X or are the media trying to re-write history? !!

Nothing like ours Eastern...the "hand over" in their case is just a figure of speech or at best a photo op. Our guys did it out on the ground in front of supporters. Until another club does that we cant accuse them of ripping us offEastern wrote:It appears that the media have taken to this "NEW" Innovation that Essendon & Western Bulldogs thought of.

come on that was years ago the media live in the now
honestly thoug stewies and burkies number hand over was somthing special i spose it is a "New" thing for essendon for the number to be handed down
also i think in the early 90's WC held a comunity camp in the north of the state so maybe GT didnt invent them after all

We all know the media are idiots and they feed of the short term memories of the majorities of their readers, but to be fair I think that believing that St.Kilda were the first teams to hand down jumper numbers, do community camps or go on O/S trips is just as ignorant...

I agree to a certain extent, none of these two are anything special, IMO neither of the players seem like they will be anything extraordinary however I think that calling Everitt a poor man's Gilbert is a bit much, Everitt made a reasonable impact in his first year, something that Gilbert never managed to do, Everitt is also 2 years younger and has quite a bit of time to catch him...Saints Premiers 2006 wrote:but stanton and everitt are above average
nothing more nothing less
everitt is a poor man's sam gilbert...
